Tanked
Squid fan Walter once asked me what Midge’s favorite comic book was. He also asked me to do a toon of Midge dressed as said favorite comic book person. Tank Chick was the answer… which (eventually) led to this toon.

So I guess Tank Chick dumped Rocket Racoon for Kombustable Koala, huh? 😉
To be fair, as a comics fan, I also didn’t follow Tank Girl (not for the reason Mouse states), but I have been able to recognize the character. Even in the more outlandish (and risque) versions of Tank Girl that I’ve seen cosplayed at local cons here. My wife immediately asks me where a lot of people’s costumes are based off of, but she’s learning her way around all things geeky. I refer to her as my “Padawan Geek”.
Pete… Tank Chick was smart like that. RR was no good for her.
Jon… Yes, yes, Padawan Geek in training. Can she mentally lift a rock while reading comics while standing on her head, yet?
In any case, yes… Mouse would’ve probably recognized Tank Chick… but it wouldn’t have made for much of a comic today.
Not yet, I still have yet to get her to start reading comics first…though she said she’ll read a few graphic novels if I read a few of her Nora Roberts (J.D. Robb) mystery novels of Janet Evanovich….I just might have to take that step to get her into comics…We’ll see. 🙂
As long as we don’t have to remember that truly awful Tank Girl movie (maybe the Tank Chick one was better).
Jon… well, before you know it, she’ll be mind-lifting rocks, jedi masters, vacuum cleaners, cats, etc…
Dada… The Tank Chick version was truly awesome.
Jon,
Evanovich is another author, Robb’s character is (Lt) Eve Dallas. I think you might prefer Evaovich’s Stephanie Plum. In either series try the earlier novels, the later ebtries have non-essential, but none-the-less disconcerting back references.
