Only the “angry” tiki has a name… MAKA KOA. The other two will be left to your own imaginations. And I’d not thought about the Avatar-ish-ness of today’s featured tiki…. but now that you mention it, Heather…
Pete… when I worked at Dizlandia, my home store was Candy Palace. Right behind Candy Palace was the area where they stored the extra Jungle Cruise boats… they just floated right there. At lunch time, I used to take my peanut butter and jelly sammich and my sketchbook and go sit in a boat. I’d listen to the routine: the natives grunting, then the pistol shots, the bird noises. Good times.
Oooo… the Candy Palace. Almost nobody other than Cast Members such as you and I that the Candy Palace had a secret weapon: Vents hidden in the outside decorative woodwork that blew air from the candy kitchen onto the sidewalk and into the crowds.
Pete… I know! And it ALWAYS smelt sooooo good! Also, too… the Confectionary guys, the ones who’d been there FOREVER, made particular candies on particular days. But they wouldn’t advertise it… so I’d get into work and cast members would be all “what’s the candy today?” and if the answer was “turtles”… they’d go buy’em all up. Turtles were, by far, the Candy Palace’s biggest seller.
Actually Brig, instead of “hey baby, hey baby” what came to mind for me was Voodoo Child (voodoo is not Hawaiian, I know, but didnt they have something similar?) by Rogue Traders … “baby baby baby … you are my voodoo child … my voodoo child …”.
But then, that song’s just stuck in my head anyway, thanks to the Dr Who episode they used it in. Playing online games, right before I pull a finishing maneuver I like to call out “here … come … THE DRUMS!!!!” and my buddy who usually plays along with me knows it’s about to get … violent. 😀
The Drums! The Drums! … heh, heh… on last First Friday, Harold was visited by his new BFF, Bunny (they seemed to have lots in common). Bunny wore a shrunken head around his neck… very voodoo. I shall have to post a photo… yah.
Oh man, now I -want- one of those for my Bathroom.
Oooo… I’ll have to dig up my Jungle Cruise photos. I was allowed onto the actual grounds (not the boat) and took some pretty cool shots.
I like the tiki! I wonder what his name is?
Imanocrook?
Wannamoremaitai?
IwannagoIwannago?
Its an AvaTiki 🙂
Isn’t there a stone statue somewhere that you are supposed to put your hand in its mouth and act like it is bitting it off?
A Tiki for all occasions!
Oh, Randie…and Spill. I’m pretty sure I’ve been on both sides of such conversations before.
“Angry” and “Mopey” are now joined by “Guilty.” This pack is getting more dysfunctional.
With Randie getting so wonderfully animated, I wonder if Spill may be inspired to create a…
“Flirty” tiki.
Ha ha… YOU guys make me laugh!
