Stpaul Cathedral
I was overwhelmed and came to tears when I visited St. Paul’s. The gorgeous tile work inside… the marble, the sculpture…. breathtaking! We took the super tour… which included walking up the stairs to the top of the dome. It was a beautious view from the top and well worth the huffing and puffing to get there.
Did you to go the Whispering Gallery at St Paul’s, Brig?
I’ll remember to wear a broad-brimmed hat when touring where birds are likely. Thanks for the tip!
That “gift” is so funny. As is the bird-pooping-in-flight addition to the card. Super bonus for simulating blue ink for the card’s message. Myself, I love blue, it’s alive, while black ink is just dead and lifeless. Anyway, you’d think, what with this being Palm Sunday, the dove would have brought a palm frond or an olive branch, but noooooooooo. Still better a “gift” from a dove (a.k.a. pidgeon), than one from a seagull back in Squid Row land (a.k.a. Cyprus City).
So, uh, Brig, thanks for that address reference. Based on that zipcode Cyprus City is also known as Seaside, California. Here’s some date I found on it:

There does not seem to be a Shoreline Street, but there IS a Shoreline Court that isn’t too shabby. I did a google map search and found a nice little street with a big park on one side and a golf course on the other. Plus as a bonus, the ocean is close by. The properties look tiny, but, hey, less lawn to mow.
Go to google maps and enter: Shoreline Court, Seaside, CA
(Sorry, It won’t carry over the address in a link)
Bridgett,
It was wonderful to meet you at Stumptown Comic Fest. Good golly you’re nice. As for today’s strip, I had a religious experience at St. Paul’s in London. Well, near St. Paul’s actually. Twenty five years ago I was on a bus tour through London and had a couple of minutes before the bus left from the cathedral. While waiting I spied a Japanese book store just a bit away. “Ooo books!” I said and trotted over to look inside. There I found and bought my first copy of (Japanese language) Shonen Jump manga, including a chapter from the very first Dragon Ball story. It was a whole new style of cartooning to me, and while I have never lost my love of American cartoons, I now had a whole other world to delve into. Oddly enough, that’s what St. Paul’s means to me. Gosh I’m shallow. ;3)
Yes! I did get to the Whispering Gallery… All of St. Paul’s took my breath away… It’s one of my more favorite cathedrals abroad.
Unca Bad… you’re not shallow… life changing moments can happen anywhere.
And I enjoyed meeting you at Stumptown as well! Your mustache is awesome!
Stick… Palm Sunday… church… it seemed right. Cypress City is fictional… I see it being more Monterey-like. But I used the Sand City zip (where I used to live)… jus’ ’cause. And yes, the bird was added by Ryan’s hand.
Kona…. you can’t go wrong with a brim. Keeps the poopies off the forehead.
When making the movie “Mary Poppins”, Walt cried every time “Feed The Birds” was performed, both for the music (as sung by Julie Andrews) and the scene setting (Jane Darwell as The Bird Woman sitting on the steps of St. Paul’s.)
