Spring
With all the snow this winter (in some areas), Spring couldn’t come soon enough. Hopefully, Spring will be delightfully Springy.

I guess it’s the same for us Washingtonian’s. The moment it hit 50 degrees out I was in shorts and barefoot working on my balcony. 🙂
For us Canadians, 55°F – 32 = 23 / 9 = 2.5556 * 5 = 13°C. And yeah, that’s t-shirt weather. 😀
And to Wisconsonians! When I was a kid, the first time it hit 50 degrees (or at least within shouting distance of 50 degrees), I’d be outside in my shorts and short-sleeved shirt, baseball mitt and baseball in hand.
Until Mom yelled at me, “Put on some long pants and a proper shirt! It’s only 50 degrees outside!”
I didn’t understand… Mom was a native Minnesotan and full-blooded Scandinavian. I thought SHE of all people would understand! 🙂
Oh, wow. Memories. I used to walk around N.Y.C. in light clothes when everyone else was in sweaters because half the year (usually fall and winter) I spent living with me pa out in the middle of freaking nowhere without any electricity or really technology whatsoever. I can’t even tell you how many times people cracked canadian jokes about me, and I’m american! I have a theory that living in knee-to-waist deep snow for a portion of the year somehow magically improves your manners and your alcohol tolerance.
Lady J,
It’s not magic; cabin fever culls the herd.
When we were in Yuma last month, it was full of Canadian snowbirds.
I go out in shirt sleeves and sandals for the 50s. And I’m not cold or Canadian. Admittedly I walk briskly.
Central California has a nice mild climate. In the winter we get rain (although we are in a drought now) with temps in the 40s but mostly 50s. Nights can get chillier. Summer… we get highs upwards into the 80’s inland and temps that hover around the 60’s and maybe 70s (on a nice day) at the ocean. Late summer/early fall is when we have GREAT weather… when all the tourists go home.
It’s funny when tourists come and think that we have the same ” Sunny California weather” that LA gets. So when they get here or in San Francisco, they unwittingly support the outerwear retailers.
When I visited Kona, Hawaii a few years ago, Jack… I saw a great many Oregon flags (go Ducks) hanging outside many a business. I do believe they are called Snow Ducks… (nah, I just made that up).
Is it Tah Day already?
I don’t know why, but Spill is just so darn cute in that first panel.
Oh no! I’m getting a crush!
Ah, ’tis spring and a young nerd’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of cartoon women.
But seriously, it’s a very attractive rendition of her.
Don’t forget all us crazies in mn. I’m back out singing spring on my motorcycle and its only 38 out
Hard winter = fun summer
@William: tip from the math geek … can cut that conversion down to C=(F-32)/1.8 and save yourself a step. 😉
And not just Canadians … temps finally hitting upper 50’s here in Iowa, not only switching from my parka to my leather jacket during the day (nights still getting down in 20’s, using the heavy coat then) but a lot of times just walking around without a jacket at all.
The one part of the weather that annoys me is it is reminding me all too much of my brief residence in western Texas – warm enough for AC in the day, cold enough to kick on the heat at night. Pick one or the other please. >.<
Beetles: This is true! Also helps to explain why Canada’s population is so small compared to the size of it!
Decided to change my name in light of my granddaughter visiting. I think she’s going to be cold tolerant as well. Her mamma bundled her up in a nice warm blanket so I could take her down to my apartment complex office and show her off to the ladies who work in there and she fussed and fussed till we got her unwrapped a little. She was just over hot.
I lived in Eugene OR for a while and WE got lots of Alaskans in the Winter.
Seems like where ever you are, somebody prefers the weather “Somewhere Else!”
Unca Bad… Well, Spill is rather unattached. If you ask her out for coffee…
(ps. your Spill crush makes me happy)
z… 38? Goodness! Time to bust out the tank top and flip flops!
Grey… it has been MOST chilly mornings here and then getting into WARM temps during the day…. you almost need to bring a set of extra clothes! But really, I cannot complain. It’s not snowing here.
Jenn… And I hear that there’s some really gorgeous places in Canada… when it’s not covered in white blankets.
Gramy P-kitty… bundles and jackets and such. I don’t tolerate cold well… so I keep things toasty where I can. So appreciate all the layers.
Leo… It is most true. Whilst in Santa Cruz, I discovered that there was a super highway of people coming up from Sandy Eggo… and vice versa. I was on that highway at one time going north. Never left.
brig,
If you’re inside, looking through a well insulated window (triple-pane) the “white blankets” can be very pretty.
A nice summer day where I am from is about 75F which translates into 23C When they get up past 80F thats when we start warning people to keep thier pets inside and beware of heat stroke. lol But then we get -30C degree days in winter and this is normal for us as well. (also fun fact -40 is where F and C meet)
