Spill Haul
I have a “bridgett-mobile”… like the Spill-mobile. It is a ’95 Toyota truck… no frills.
As a truck-owner, you have a duty. Before 1999 (when I bought “The Beast”… it’s nickname), I relied on the favors of truck-owners to move things… large canvases, furniture, etc. Then I bought me some truck… and it’s gotten me around, cross country twice, and has hauled my stuff, other people’s stuff, landfill stuff, rocks, and more. I think I have fulfilled my duty as a truck-owner, which is good because the dang thing is parked in the driveway with a dead battery.
One of our church members donated an older but still serviceable mini-pickup, which is kept parked at the church and is free to be used by anyone who needs it for a quick trip or even a week while their own car is in the shop. We just have to bring it back with a full tank and throw a few extra bucks in the offering plate for upkeep.
That, Kona, is fantastic! What a superb idea! Trucks a soooo useful. Truth is… you don’t NEED truck all the time, unless you work on a farm or construction or something. I don’t really drive my truck much because I work so close to home, so I bicycle it. But they sure come in handy when you do need’em. Just ask the flock at yer church!
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted a pickup truck. I’ve owned four so far. I don’t have one now, but I will… oh, I will!
Sadly, my pickup has had to be put in mothballs (figuratively speaking) due to gas prices. Whee scooter!
Pete… when I was a kid… I wanted a Pinto. I had this little Matchbox car… and I thought, “yah, when I get old enough to drive… that’s what I want…” Happily, that’s not what I got. As a teen person, I decided I wanted a bug… and THAT’s what I got…. thankfully.
Dani… Do you scoot?
Hey!
My first car was a Pinto wagon, kind of a bronze color. Back then seatbelt laws were a lot less strict. Friends would either battle it out for the front seat, or the back of the wagon. I had a couple of these paddle-like devices that had indexed flip cards with messages on them that sat in the back area behind the seats. Friends would get in the back and flash all sorts of combined messages at folks behind. Back then you could also just jump into the back of a pick-up and go. I had. Not so anymore. Maybe a good thing safety-wise but not fun-wise.
Never did have a pick-up, but did have a vee-dub, a Scirocco, which I worked on, a lot.
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t know how much trust I’d put in Spill behind the wheel. Just sayin’…
