Sourpuss
I think that Melody falls into the “sourpuss” category. And smiling definitely takes a goodly amount of effort on HER part.

This failed to post yesterday… I didn’t see that it hadn’t … sorry, my dear Squiddies.
When not serving coffee, is Mel a painter? I think she painted eyes over her closed eyelids and a smile over her closed mouth.
In my experience the only people in Customer Service who DO anything are the people who aren’t busy faking a smile. It’s easy to be friendly and polite to a customer but walking around with a smile plastered on your clock, a fake one at least, is just pointless. The last supervisor that told me I had to smile got told where to go, how to get there, and how much of the heavy lifting they would have to do if I left. Interestingly they never tried to bully a smile onto my face again….
Some people are not made to do fake smiles. It would appear Mel is one of them. *shudder* 😀
When a monster smiles, it’s often scarier than a monster snarl.
Yat… Mel is an artist… we ain’t seen her stuff yet… but we will see that in the future. Meanwhile… I wouldn’t put painting on eyes and a smile past her.
Trev… Retail isn’t for everybodys, for sure. I think that the experience should be genuine… but fakery is see through… insincere and I dislike the practice, myself.
Pete… nope… Count Mel as a member of the horrible fake smile club.
Jack… oh yes… they are usually up to something… AND need to be watched very closely. Or just run away!
Yeah I’d rather see her falling asleep than THAT if i went into a coffee shop…
Meet… Agreed.
Ew, [shudders]. Ever read “Mr. Potter Takes a Rest Cure,” by P. G. Wodehouse?
That last panel is amazing stuff; I almost imagined the follow-up comic would be just four copies of it!
