Sketchy
I went on a sketchbook binge recently. I bought four sketchbooks. Each is different with different qualities from one another. One is spiral-bound with kraft colored paper; another is hardbound with multi-media paper; another has watercolor paper and the last one is flexi with more drawing paper. I am particular about the pens I use and the sketchbooks I work in. And if you were curious… it takes me about 3 months to go through one…. roughly.
The new notebooks I backed from Kickstarter last April (Furrow Books) should be finally arriving this week or next. New notebooks. Squeeeee. 🙂
So Randi has not learned that talking about nice things in unsafe places results in what we call ‘tempting fate’, I take it? Ah well, lesson learned!
I recently had to invest in a notebook to keep tabs on all sorts of things (mostly health issues I’m having now). So far I’ve had….. poor results. Methinks it be time to invest in higher quality paper than usual.
“Mamma told me there’d be days like this… there would be days like this my mamma said…”
I met Brig at the San Jose Comic Con this past May and picked up one of her books which I started to read the very same night. The next day I went back for her second book. I have finally read through the online archives and now I’m CAUGHT UP!!! Love this strip! It is going to be hard to wait for them to come out at a regular pace. LOL
Doesn’t Spill drop everything she owns into paint? Maybe Randie can sell her that “accident”.
Book dropped into paint=mixed media journal.
I bet it can be used as a paintbrush for some crazy textures.
Oh! That reminds me… now that school’s started up again, we need to pick up a couple more sketchbooks for Ben, our artsy son. Though his art class this year is on desktop. Still, I can’t think of an artist who’d turn down a new, blank sketchbook.
Thank you , Fun Mike! I am so glad you enjoyed the books and the archive… Did you go to the WAY back Squid over on Webcomics Nation? There is a link above the comic…. There you will find the older comics that I did before I had my own site here!enjoy!!!
Yes, Brig, I went all the way back! To what was claimed to be the “first” strip. That is probably why it took me three months (other than the fact of having a life to squeeze into the non-reading Squid Row time). Two things: 1) T-Shirts!!!! 2) Original Art!!!! Love your work!
I love me some sketch books… Moleskin, and global art make good sketchies….
…and a new Squiddie is spawned! Welcome to the shoal, Fun Mike!
Thank you, Empress! A Squiddie I am!
