Seen It
A few notes on this cartoon: One… the painting Randie whips out there is kinda creepy… but if you know Randie and her love of horror films, you can kinda see where this would be something she’d come up with.
Tangent ALERT: The thought often crosses my mind of what horror writers must think about during the day… and where their inspiration comes from…? I mean… some stuff is just SICK… and BLECHT! … What must roll around in their noggin’ while coming up with stuff… I shudder to think.
Okay, that tangent aside… Two: I now realize that the red/orange paint eye ought to be in the foreground, and not the green… But meh… perfectionist artists.
My pocket philosopher could be a great horror writer if he’d get half a chance. He comes up with things that creep ME out (being a sadist, no small feat!). Oddly, what he spends his day thinking about is the same stuff most people do, just a lot more…… in depth. A whole lot more. Frighteningly more. Starting a conversation about a simple book can go to very, very worrying places with him without any warning.
I’ve only ever written one horror story… and I didn’t finish it. The premise freaked me out. It freaked out my wife, too. And she loves horror stories, but this was too much.
My stories and novels have elements of creepy to them scattered in and out. My mind can be pretty dark, but fortunately that part of the imagination is just a place to visit; I don’t live there. Lousy neighbors.
Great, I just threw my unfinished version of that away. *hand to forehead* Sigh!
…and I doubt the fella in the painting has seen ANYTHING!
Lady J… I picked up a book some time ago called “Think Like a Genius”… basically it is a book on how to make connections and deeper thinking. It sounds like your Pocket Philosopher might could’ve written the book.
Pete… ooo… did you keep it to revisit later… ? I’m glad you don’t live in the dark. Dark is an icky place to live.
Jack… ha! I bet you JUST did…
Dada… aha haha ahahahahahahah! Nope. Paint guy ain’t seeing nuthin’ …
I like that the green is in front…you little rabble rouser, you.
Well, as much as he disagrees I certainly call him a genius. He calls himself reality blind…… Hm, he and the pictured fellow have something in common perhaps!
Brig,
In fact, I did keep that creepy story. I even adapted it and toned it down considerably for a short story that appears in the newly published anthology Defending The Future: Dogs of War. I’m told it still has a creepy factor, but not the wake-up-screaming-for-a-week level of creepy, which is what Bethlynne said the original had.
Here’s the Amazon link, if any readers are interested. Feel free to delete it if it’s too pushy. 🙂

EofO… I am… no apologies. Smiles!
Lady J… really? Randie must’ve been foresightful.
Pete… Nice! I guess that Bethlynne can’t get the creepy out though… Nepenthe.
… and not pushy… I like the cover, too. Smiles!
