Run Ragged
Who had a Raggedy Andy/Ann? I think I had one… or maybe it was just a coloring book. I was always kinda puzzled by them (as a kid)… Like, what’s their story? They seemed to have one.

Raggedy Randie. I think you’ve just found the next item to add to your shop.
The guy who created Ann for his daughter wrote a whole series of books about her and Andy and Rags — like an Indiana Winnie-the-Pooh. I remember thinking some of them were pretty cool when I was tiny, though I couldn’t tell you what was in them now.
Work, summer class, and packing to move. I know how she feels!
I remember there were a couple of em’ at my grandparents house when I was tiny. I know tthat there is a story that goes along with them, but I couldn’t tell you what it is.
My daughter has a Raggedy Ann doll that is about 2 /12 feet tall. I vaguely remember the stories from when I was little.
Nope, never had a Raggedy Ann or Andy and did not know anyone who did. Funny comic eyes in panel two and cute changeover in panel three.
Hmm. If she goes “overboard” at an oyster bar and becomes uncharacteristically amorous will she become a Randy Randie?
Last panel: the horrible result of Randie and Harold getting their molecules combined in “The Fly”‘s teleporter.
to stick figurer-or, if she goes to a costume party as the national animal of china, she could be “randie panda”.
DadaHyena,
I’m not sure I can forgive you for that comment – I’m now wondering why in The Fly + remake and sequels, people don’t become co-mingled with their clothes.
I had Ann, but no Andy. I found an old Andy in my grandparents toy box (for visiting kids to play with) and gave it a sex change. Turned it into a red headed baby, it’s official name by the way, for my oldest daughter when she was about a year old. We never went anywhere without that doll for years and had to go back and get it several times! She still has it and she’s 33 now, but she doesn’t play with it anymore. One job was always what I could handle, tried two once and just collapsed. Fortunately, it was for a local magazine publisher and my husband took the job instead. Then the kids and us all worked for him occasionally to publish his magazine.
Goodness… so many responses…
Retiarious… (Hello!) Yah… now if I could only find a willing sweatshop worker.
Suzii… ah ha! Raggedy pooh!
chug… are you moving nearby? Happy packing…
Squid… see Suzii’s
THE FLY… AAAAAHHH…. such a creepy movie… Leave it to you, Dada, (professional creep… artist, that is) to bring that up! Blech! I’m with you, Beetle.
Firedome… Panda? Is Randie a Giants fan?
Kim & Teach… yah… I had a floppy doll that was rather tall/big… my Gram brought it to me when she visited from whence she lived. It was taller than I, with yarn-y hair and gaudy clothing. I think Raggedy people had more country charm. It’s no wonder you had them around.
stick… thanks… and when I was creating (or re-creating) Randie’s name… the term crossed my mind…. but I went with it anyhow (Randie started out as Andie… Squid Trivia).
