Resist Box
Do an experiment… put a box out (of any size)… see how long it takes for your cat to notice and investigate.
I love cats.

I love cats.
Mine sniff at boxes, but much prefer the couch.
Our cat, Thomas Stearns Eliot, always preferred sitting on us, and always made a beeline (catline?) for me whenever I sat down. But I have seen that “this box is mine!” attitude in many cats.
Eliot used to hide in the grass in the backyard on warm, sunny days. But he actually WAS hunting when he did that.
It taskes forever – I don’t have a cat.
Some of my favorite photos of Mouse are her, in a soda box, with her head coming out one end and her tail trailing out the other. Sometimes, in this position, she glances up with a look that says, “What? I’m a cat. You should expect this sort of thing.”
Tell ya what, Brig me luv–I’ll keep the little kids and you can have the cats. Then we’ll both be happy and have loads of fun! A hug coming your way!
That’s a good gato.
Ha, Twinkie looks like Garfield in his cat bed.
Yeh, cats sure do like boxes, and paper bags, but not so much at ground level. What they really like are perches, like a certain beagle on the top of his dog house, and if there are boxes or paper bags up there, all the better. Oh, and if your cabinet or bookshelf tops are cluttered with plants or books or china or framed pictures or whathaveyous, fear not, the cat will clear all that stuff off for you.
Congrats…
Barack Obama on his second inauguration,
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr on today’s celebration of his social change,
and the Harbaugh coaching family for the upcoming Har-Bowl.
–John Harbaugh, older brother and head coach of the AFC winning Baltimore Ravens, to go up against his younger brother, Jim Harbaugh, head coach of the NFC winning San Fran Forty Niners, in the upcoming NFL Super Bowl (in 2 weeks), with their younger sister, Joani Harbaugh, aerobics instructor and wife of the head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers, rooting them on along with their dad–who’s game plans she used to color in, Jack Harbaugh, himself a retired football player and coach (Stanford, Marquette, San Diego, Western Kentucky), and their mom, Jackie Harbaugh, who publicly wishes her bright sons would have been doctor or lawyer partners instead.
Ha, in response to their mom’s lack of interview excitement, dad, Jack, offered “Eh, you know women. Always nagging, am I right. Hey, let me show you some of my trophies from my playing career, I’ve got some pretty good ones. You know, I was a coach too.”
It takes my two cats exactly 5.2 seconds to discover an empty box, fight for ownership, and then move right in.
By the way,
what happened to Bridgett? There’s been no comments for days.
My apologies, all, for my absence… I’ve been down with a migraine. I don’t like being away.. really. I’ve missed you.
Squiddies all… I think cats and the humans they own are fascinating. Thank you for sharing… now those of you who aren’t cat fans… well… it’s been suggested I need a dog in the strip… all in favor say “aye.”
Pete… I love your cat’s name.
stick… cats have a knack for clearing shelves. And I think… your NFL musings might be better off in a Football Chat room.
brig… Since you draw what you know, adding a dog to your strip will likely mean adding one to your home as well. Your cats will really love that.
When your team is winning, woo-hoo, everywhere is your chat room.
PS: The odds makers are picking the Niners to win and join the Steelers as the only two teams with 6 Super Bowl wins.
all this talk about cats and boxes made me think about this guy…

maru is famous for getting in and out of boxes.
A random act of Dogginess would be kindly appreciated. Don’t stress, though, Dear.
brig… Hope you’re feeling better.
dome… Ha, dats a similarity hilarity.
Once again…
Congrats Barack and honors Martin.
We call them cat traps…boxes that is.
stick… yes, but consider your audience. You don’t go to a dog chat room to talk about cats… unless, of course, it’s a dog&cat story. Please notice that football rarely comes up in Squid Row (there’s a reason for that). No offense (ha! I made a pun)
firedome… MARU! Ha ha! I’d not seen that one! It goes to show you, cats are circus animals. Hmmm… I wonder why there aren’t cat circuses…?
EofO… yes, yes… I used to have PePe, who Randie got hornswaggled into walking… she was doing a dog portrait for Mrs. Hilderbum (I believe). That was ages ago!
Carolee… (bonjour!)… Yes… that’s very appropriate.
I have never had a cat as a pet, but I do find them amusing.
drfuse… they are MOST amusing. I like keeping mine around. She’s good for snuggles and lap warmth as well.
