Trust me, Ryan. You want to be irreplaceable only until you are, and then you realize you’re not your own person at that point. (My experience for years for being a one-person IT Department.)
Squiddies… Agreed. If you work at a restaurant in this country, it is probably not a career choice unless you are the owner or chef/owner person. In France, however, if you are a waiter at an establishment, it is more of a career. You are not paid a lowish wage with tips on the side. You are paid a full wage with all that comes with it. Waitering is also not something you do while you are on your way to something else. It is the something else.
Worst of it is, I’ve never held a normal job in my life. Everything I’ve learned comes from the outside, and let me tell you…… as a sadist, I’ve enjoyed every moment of watching the wage slaves soldier on. Probably not a good comment on how our world works, is it?
Jenn… I’ve been an hourly wage earner. It isn’t very satisfying in the money area… but I did enjoy helping people. There is a certain feeling that comes over you when you’ve helped someone with a project, or brightened their day with your service (always with a smile).
Yeah, life just wouldn’t be the same without some of us around…
Remember: If you can’t be replaced you also can’t be promoted!
What Jenn said. Or, worse, you get promoted and still have to do your old job while you’re at it.
Don’t worry, Rye. A replacement at a restaurant is inevitable.
I’m wondering just WHO it will be, some one we’ve met perhaps?

LA,
Were you thinking of Grace perhaps? She does have food service experience now.

And mystery business woman…. who could she be?
There’s always Carol.
Beetles… bite your tongue.

It’s probably Em.
I was just thinking that Legacy and then I came upon your comment! Maybe we’re all a little sadist on the inside Lady Jenn.

Legacy… OH wouldn’t that be something!!!?
Eprinc… ooo… creepy.
Of course he’s irreplaceable, just like everybody that has held the position before him…. 😛
The Auld Grump
I was always replaceable and sometimes superfluous. (spell check says that’s how it’s spelled. Who knew?)
