Maximillian is one of my very favoritest characters ever! You know, he really is a good guy, if people can just see past the *ahem* ego on display. And he really is fun at parties!
I Avoid Parties like the plague! I Don’t mind the occasional little get-together, such as the first fridays you used to hold wherein there was some common thread bringing US
There but i find parties as amalgamations of Disorder.
I’m kind of with firedome on this one; get-togethers of maybe a half-dozen or so folks are o-kay–play cards or games, or just for potluck dinner–but parties are just a little too much. Too many people, too much noise, too chaotic. I just don’t deal well with crowds.
bit… at large gatherings of my own design, I feel like I need to get to everybody and visit… and I always feel like I never get to spend as much time as I want with someones.
This year a party was the lesser of two evils – my girlfriend’s cousin is visiting, so going to a party and taking her along means that she will not be bar hopping.
The party is being held by a U/U minister that is also a Gardnerian Wiccan – mostly folk musicians will be there, singing and/or playing an instrument is the price of admission – one old song (a song that you know well) and one new song (one that you may have practiced, but have not performed publicly).
Lonesome Robin made Megan cry, the first time that she heard it.
Mariner’s Revenge Song, on the other hand, is just dark and weird.
Costumes are optional, but Megan and I are going in steampunk guises – an assassin for her, and a steampunk redcap (powrie) for me. (Actually… better not let Randie ever meet a redcap… they are pretty much her greatest fear – little men that dye their caps in blood.)

Maybe it will be a ‘House on Haunted Hill’ kind of party, where “life” can be snuffed out at any moment!

EofO… I love fictionalized characters.
dada… while drinking martinis and scotch!
firedome… those First Fridays were fun!

Not a party guy. I’m an introvert and fine with it.

Megan and I are singing The Mariner’s Revenge Song – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0CR1IJKMPo – as the song that we have performed before, and Lonesome Robin – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iBoViWyBiA – for the one that we have never sung in public before.

The Auld Grump
I think that it was kind of sad that Rudy didn’t appear for Christmas.
