Party Chaos
I didn’t plan it this way, but this storyline (which started yesterday) happens to sort of coincide with the Holiday Cartoonery First Friday Event.
Every First Friday my office is open for folks to come up and hang out… there are munchies and music and all… So Holiday sha-bang this time around! But I think it’s safe to say (as I write this entry a week before the party) that there will be no Death Metal or Englebert at the Cartoonery Holiday party.
I think a side by side comparison of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Every Breath You Take” by the Police would be interesting.
He sees you when you’re sleeping. He knows when you’re awake.
Every game you play, every night you stay, I’ll be watching you.
I like the version of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” they did in Scrooged, re-scored into a minor key. Very sinister, even though Bobcat Goldthwait is singing it. Can’t find a YouTube clip to illustrate, though…
What?! No Metal on Christmas?!
So much for having Rob Zombie play Santa…
I have to admit to being pretty old-school when it comes to the Christmas Toons. The kids still come out to the living room to open presents to Bing Crosby’s “Merry Christmas” (1945).
Dada… Rob Zombie SCARES me! I don’t think that Halloween and Christmas go together…. and I know what you’re all going to say… and I really rather dislike that movie.
Have you heard “Christmas Remixed”? You get that good ol’ Bing but with a modern twist!
Joe: Old bearded fat men spying on your every move… now THAT is creepy (now that you mention it…)
Astragali… You know, I think I saw Scrooged… but I prefer The Muppets Christmas Carol to all! “Light the lamp, not the RAT!”
Anybody hear of Tommy Emmanuel?
Heh, the only DM band I can imagine doing a Christmas album is Dethklok (from Metalocalypse). I haven’t kept up with that show, I don’t know if they had a Christmas episode (although I suspect it would be zany if they did)…..

Speaking of Christmas music, go to that url for “Australian Jingle Bells.”
I enjoy listening to British Christmas songs:
Queen: “Thank God It’s Christmas”
Slade: “Merry Christmas Everybody”
Wizzard: “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day”
Kate Bush: “December Will Be Magic Again”
Elton John: “Step Into Christmas”
Paul McCartney: “Wonderful Christmas Time”
Chris de Burgh: “A Spaceman Came Travelling”
Jona Lewie: “Stop the Cavalry”
Cheesy, admittedly, but it’s a seasonal nostalgia thing more than an actual celebration.
