Sometimes feedback is “listened upon.” No shame in that. Maggie sure has been making things happen. Most proactive.

Smaaaaart! Not only good business sense, but FUN business sense.
A “perk” we had at our comic store was a subscription service. Agree to pick up one comic a month from us and you got a 10% discount on everything. AND you got to pick up your bag of comics on Wednesday night when the comics came in after closing. Everyone else had to wait until we opened Thursday morning.
Yay Ma! Learn from the experts! I hope this eases poor Mouse’s anxiety..he’s been a bit of a wreck lately…
Craft night or focus group?
High marks on the character designs! Someone seems to have spent way too much time in craft stores.
Remember, it’s not stealing an idea, it’s following a suggestion. People notice these little things. One store I went to for YEARS was in a leaning, creaky building with a constant drip over in one corner, but the owner always had a couple cans of cold soda for fifty cents, a friendly and engaging personality, a chessboard, and he would get you ANYTHING you needed….. from pipes to action figures to 200 pound metal garden pots to art kit to cards…. ‘by tuesday’. All the spiffy stores in the area paled by comparison to his business because he was just such a fun guy with cheap pop. I don’t even think he had much in his store to begin with, now that I think about it, besides that chessboard. At least not until the magical Tuesday rolled around!
Pretty much every time I tried the “free treats” angle at my convention table the results were the same: people would briskly walk by, grab massive handfuls of treats, and before you could say a syllable they were gone in a flash. Here’s hoping these ladies have better luck!
Pete: Perks are what make people happy… and it builds loyalty and a mark in the “Happy things I like about this business” column. The more perks, the better!
Judy: Yah, Mouse just might have some burn out.
RN… both!
Uncle Bilbo: well thanks! I have been in a few Crafty places, for sure!
Trev… Customer service trumps everything… honestly, it’s people and service that makes or breaks a place. If you own a spiffy place but have no customer service skills, it will become something that will “be on the wire.” People talk. Cheap Soda, quick service… goes a LONG Way.
Dada… Yah… I’ve seen that kind of behavior at my table, too… It’s always the boogerheads that ruin it for everyone!
