I get a song stuck in my head I go watch the video on YouTube, loop it 3 or 4 times, then it goes away. Kinda like doing a controlled burn to form a firebreak and stop a forest fire. 😀
Punch, brothers! punch with care!
Punch in the presence of the passenjare!
Conductor, when you receive a fare,
Punch in the presence of the passenjare!
A blue trip slip for an eight-cent fare,
A buff trip slip for a six-cent fare,
A pink trip slip for a three-cent fare,
Punch in the presence of the passenjare!
Punch, brothers! punch with care!
Punch in the presence of the passenjare!
This jingle gave fits to Mark Twain until he was finally able to tell it to a friend, thus freeing himself from the torment while also (inadvertently) passing it on.
I generally just sing it or whistle it – releasing it.
But then I have no problem with singing or whistling in public.
The Auld Grump, but then my taste in music is… odd.
Fought all through this wilderness in ’59
Still fancy I see shadows movin’, time after time.
Still fancy I see shadows movin’, time after time.
If it doesn’t lift your spirits, well it leaves you numb.
Best cure for the shadows is a bottle of rum.
Only cure for shadows is a bottle of rum….
This toon is most timely, as I saw a little blurb in a magazine… a “what ever happened to…” blurb… and it was the singer who sang “Bluer than Blue”… immediately jumped into my head and has been there ever since.
But “Oh, Mickey, yer so fine…” has to win some award somewhere… that spent an unusual amount of time in my head in the 80’s. … that and “Come on Eileen.”
Irene good night,
Irene good night,
Good night Irene,
Good night Irene,
I’ll see you in my dreams.
I asked your mother for you,
She said that you were too young….
I wish to God I’d never seen your face,
Or heard your lying tongue.
The Auld Grump – my girlfriend says that all the songs I know are sad, but then I am of Irish descent –
For the great Gaels of Ireland
Are the men that God made mad,
For all their wars are merry,
And all their songs are sad.
…Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”?
Ugh, I hate it when songs get stuck in my head
I once had a song stuck in my head for three days. Got so frustrated I slapped myself on sheer impulse… and it worked. Knocked the song right out.

I get “Sweet Dreams” by Marylin Manson. Complete with video.
It probably doesn’t help that his is the best rendition of that song…
