Tartar sauce under your nails IS gross. It’s greasy and smells. Bleah.
I think man-crying is acceptable in SOME situations… but certainly not for losing your right-arm, top waiter and constant employee of the month. The ship is gonna sink now fo’ shur! Well, maybe boss-guy SHOULD cry.
Under the fingernails, nothing…tartar sauce is gross anywhere. A veritable unholy alliance of mayo and pickles that is all too often slopped on fish sandwhichs in extreme quantities. Blech
Anyone out there ever work on your car, without gloves on? Oil changes? Brake changes? Tune ups involving reaching into tight, awkward spaces and wrenching on impossible to reach nuts and bolts? That dirty, smelly, thick, black burnt oil and road grime mixture that gets stuck under your nails and in your finger scrapes looks horrible and is hard to get cleaned out.
people wear gloves while working on cars?
Of course they do Frank,… I cant take you anywhere!
Aww, poor ol’ Squid Kitchen Bossman…maybe they were tears because people usually just up ‘n quit without bothering with a notice?
Joe… The Kalamari Kitchen’s boss was crying “tears of joy” over Rye’s appreciation of him?
I actually like Tartar Sauce… but it’s not exactly good for a gal’s waistline… come to think of it… neither is greasy fish-n-chips (I don’t actually order them much).
I’m a clean artist… I don’t like paint getting everywhere… I run a neat work space (most of the time… except for the piles …. but they are NEAT piles). And so having stuff under my nails bugs me. They make those lovely little nail scrubber brushes… I like those.
Firedome… I sport gloves that leave the fingertips exposed… I used them when I would paint when it’d be too cold NOT to have gloves (Randie wears them sometimes)… I like to touch stuff when working. I imagine it’s the same in working with cars… ya gatta touch the car parts.
Stick… It wouldn’t be unheard of to have people just walk off the job at “The Kitchen.” The happiness of getting a week’s notice thus giving you time to find someone to replace the position would be a joyous thing…. especially if you’re not used to having that. That’s what Joe meant.
Panel 3: a passing giant squid just inked ’em!
Tartar sauce under the fingernails literally made me cringe. Yuck!
It is so nice to see things going well for Rye, for a change. I agree with the comment made previously about how Rye has been through the ringer and deserves a break. I am sure he will still find plenty to roll his eyes about at the new place … head waiters see it all …
Dada… hee hee! I love that… inked by a Squid!
Grey… I love Ryan as a character… and I only want to see him prosper… but how does one know what one is capable of if not challenged in some way? Ryan maintains his Ryan-ness in good times and in bad…. and he remains a steadfast pal to Randie.
Tis true that the finest of steel must first see the fire of the forge and the pounding of the hammer … stress turns the raw metal of who we were into the powerful tools of what we could be.
But too much forge and anvil without quenching? Shatters. Constant never-ending forging and never set out to use? Pointless and will eventually fatigue.
I’m just sayin I hope his days at the forge are done for now and can enjoy a bit of restful happiness, time to recharge his spiritual batteries before it’s time for the next round of crafting. š
Grey… I think that is why life happens in cycles and rhythms… up down, up then down.
