i guess a lot of men have father issues, personally i don’t talk with him much beacause he’s not the type of person who talks much and even less about his emotion or stuff like that so i think i never really heard him say i love you son, but i know he does, he just shows it in a different way.
and because of that, i’m afraid that one day when i have a son of my own, i will become like him, even though i don’t want to, i want to be able to say i love you to my son but when i think about it, there’s this voice in my head that says that men should never show their emotions, emotions are for the weak….
i know it not true, i just feel compelled for some reason to think like that….
I think it’ll be an ongoing underlining storyline. Ryan has issues with his dad. A while back Ryan admitted that his parents believe his younger brother to be a saint… when in fact, he is more of a Brandy and Benedictine sort of fellow.
Frank… No! “Cat’s in the Cradle and the silver spoon….”
Brig-Agreed! Men have the exact same emotions as women and every right to vocalize them! I want to have a boy when I have kids just so I can mold him into a healthy man free from hurtful gender stereotypes. (Not to say that if I have a girl I’m going to go to my doctor and ask for a refund or something 🙂 )
I love that song so much even if it depresses me. I’m looking forward to Ryan’s storyline, I’m rather fond of the fellow.
Meghan – *hehe* I can ASSURE you that gender stereotypes have a basis in truth. Boys WILL be boys, make no mistake. Boys and girls/ men and women have the same emotions but very different ranges on those emotions and very different outlets when it comes to expressing them. (On a sad note, there’s a reason why 25% of all transsexual people commit suicide; and why two-thirds of them are drug and alcohol abusers.)
But Brig is right, Ryan does have issues and does need to deal with them. It’ll be interesting to see if that storyline is ever addressed here. After all, it IS Randie’s comic. 😉

Yikes! Tension! That’s never good. Do I smell a future storyline or did I leave something in the oven :)?

guess they don’t really have anything to talk about if they can’t talk about those things 😀
