Most people are extroverts, who are less sensitive to stimulus than introverts are. You can tell in the cradle because the extroverts will react less strongly, if at all, to stimulus. All that social contact is draining.
However, since Grace has shown no other signs of introversion — she can handle people just fine, she just likes being rude — she’s probably just being self-absorbed.
one of my best friends at work is a lot like that. she has no trouble joking around folks she knows but finds it extremely taxing to be friendly to customers. sometimes, even “cordial” is a chore.
Heh… Grump, that reminds me of a time when I forgot that I had a pair of fake fang caps on. Went to the Seattle street fair with my mate and my best friend. We were all talking and I noticed this little kid walking with his mom near us. The kid was staring at me with absolutely huge wide eyes and a terrified look on his face.
I kind of looked around confused for a moment before I remembered the fangs. The kid was insistently tugging at his mother’s arm to get her attention and pointing at me nearly in tears. His mother was looking confused till I reached up and tugged off one of the caps and knelt down telling the kid it was okay, and that they were fake.
I was really embarrassed about how much I had scared the kid unintentionally.
Heh, sadly, my fangs are a result of uncorrected malocclusion.
My eyeteeth are… rather pronounced, thrust forward and down.
Braces would have corrected this, but….
I once frightened the child of folk singer Sally Rogers…. (Sally Rogers is an absurdly nice person – I swear, she knew half the audience by name, and it was not a small concert. 🙂 )
The Auld Grump – adding prosthetic fangs, on the other hand… works wonderfully well…. >:^)
With all that smiling, Grace’s jaw is gonna be sore in the morning.
Well… at least Grace doesn’t file her teeth to points.
(Nobody tell her that. She might do it.)
Yat… after awhile… your “smile” is just showing teeth…
Pete… gah! that would be awful! … but good for a toon… yah?

Like anything else, Grace, it requires PRACTICE.

It doesn’t help when your smile is naturally more fangs than teeth….
The Auld Grump, but they do help when I want to frighten small children….
Mary… it’s DRAINING just being around her… I wonder how her co-worker there is handling it?
Chug… practicing being nice… I think that’s a skill you learn in Kindergarten, Yes? She’s a bit behind.
firedome… how do YOU handle that? do you find yourself excusing her behavior (to customers) at times?
Grump… OOOO…. I should try fangs… how do you think they’ll look with braces?
