I have been known to argue these points myself from time to time. When backed into a corner always remember the multi-dimension can be pulled out and used to discredit your opponent.
There is a time and a place. We should have designated nerd zones so people can enjoy the rants at their leisure! As a ranter, I am used to drawing a crowd and I try to keep my performances out of places they’ll gum up the works. It’s just polite!
Some places have “fast lanes”, where you can go up, check out, and be on your merry.
Coffee shops need “talk lanes”, where you’ll get served only when you’re ready. Meanwhile, all the other “need caffeine” customers can breeze through the other line. 🙂
FunMike…. I’m not good at such arguing tactics. I hate confrontation… and I can never remember stuff at the right time.
RN… ha… yah… MAYbe… some folks don’t enjoy the realm of superhero fiction… I’m certainly not a follower of all things superhero… Now Snoopy… there’s a dog of a different color!
Trev… That’s good of you… and do you mean to have “nerd zones” like you would have a smoking area…? I think that would be good… There is a bar coming in my very near vicinity… it is to be called the “Nerd Out”… and it is a Geek bar for the comic book inclined… only in Portland.
Pete… Yes, Java Bob’s needs a fast lane for sure… talk lanes are, well, the rest of the cafe. Sit at a table, M & M… and enjoy nerding out without backing up the line!
Brig… Pretty much EXACTLY like smoking areas, only a tad bigger. People in full geek out arguments tend to gesture a lot! A whole bar sounds about right, lol.

Maybe it would’ve been interesting to her when she was nine…
