I’ve seen a few stores spend too much too quickly and have to shut down. In those cases it was less ‘spending too much’ than ‘not being ready for the expenses before starting’.
“Money is like manure; it’s not worth a thing unless it’s spread around encouraging young things to grow.” – Thornton Wilder, American Playwright and Novelist.
And he’s from the same town I grew up in: Madison, Wisconsin. And believe you me, with as many dairy cattle as Wisconsin has, they know their manure! 😀
Mouse would faint dead away if he knew that developing a game starts at an average cost of 5000 US a day (Yes, a DAY!) over a period of about two years. I remind myself of that when we tend to get a little too picky about small details. It did scare me a bit the first time someone threw two and a half million at me and told me to go make a game.
Uncle Bilbo: yeah, I can imagine that kind of system shock. Actually, I can’t, I’ve never seen that much money in my life or even over the whole course of it….. so if it ever DID happen, I’d probably be asking for advice on how not to freak out!

I suppose it depends on how big your bank account is…but there is a point of diminishing returns. Look at the newspaper career of Charles Foster Kane…
I wonder if the “Help Wanted” sign in the window is a bit of foreshadowing??

Trev… Money management is a funny thing… it can make or break you. Starting out in the hole… is digging out…
RN… okay… will do.
FunMike… mmmmm… maybe might could be…dunno.
Pete… I agree… put it out there… spread it around. And the flowers come…

I suspect that Mouse knows more about store management and budgeting than Mom does. She should listen to him. Or the aunts should and overrule Mom.
