Modigliani
When I happened upon some Modiglianis in the L’Orangerie in Paris, I too, fell in love. I cannot tell you how long I stood before Paul Guillaume, Novo Pilota, 1915. I studied and smiled and wanted to know more about the artist who painted this astounding portrait. I immediately went to the gift shop to buy a postcard of the piece.
…or you could have Google Image’d it. I swear, the Internet has me so spoiled.
Ah yes, Rye; he was a less than perfect human being. unlike, say Steinbeck. Oh, wait a minute…
Hee hee… yes, Steinbeck could be testy at times… so I have read. It’s so funny, Doc Ricketts was much the opposite. Perhaps it was a quality Mr. Steinbeck admired.
Kona… the internet is OUR friend!
I love Modigliani, too…. definitely one of my favorites!!!!
We used to make a mad dash for the gift shop every time we went to the MIA on an Art History field trip. I did once, sit and study an old Roman fresco and churn out 5 rough draft pages of analysis, but later on, I followed the crowd so I could enjoy the rest of the institute. 🙂
