I did a lot of cruzin’ on the interwebs for “tiki stuff.” I wound up, of course, looking at that Dizlandia attraction. I was disappointed to not find more “concept art” for the Tiki Room. I have this book I bought from Dizlandia years ago about the making of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride… and there were all kinds of cool pics and stories. I know nothing like this that exist for the Enchanted Tiki Room. Anybody know or have anything such as this?
Brig,
Can’t help you out with any decor ideas, but enjoy your Freaki Tiki Friday!

The tiki hut was the first thing I went to at Disneyland when I was 9. Haven’t been back since, but that hut totally sticks out in my mind.
Happy Groundhog Day Everyone.
Does having 6 more weeks of winter still count when winter never arrived in the first place?

stick,
Not sure; we’re overcast but they’re predicting snow for Saturday.
The Enchanted Tiki Room! I had to clean up that place on the midnight shift every night. It was a dangerous place to be… it was so quiet and comfortable that there was the danger of falling asleep on the job.
Nice perk: The benches in the Tiki Room did a LOT to knock loose change from people’s pockets. I must have “cleaned up” twenty or thirty dollars over the months I worked there.
TIDBIT: That outdoor projector in the waiting area for the Tiki Room? It was a special bulb since it was outdoors and played almost non-stop during the day. In 1980, the cost of the bulb was $900.
For Goundhog Day, our family celebrates by having pancakes and sausage and watching “Groundhog Day” with Bill Murray. Why pancakes and sausage? Watch the movie! One guy wanted “flapjacks”. And sausage is, after all, ground hog.
Did we even have winter yet? It hasn’t shown up here in Salinas…. So I’m okay with “more” winter.
stick… Ah… ebay… those are some interesting memorabilia items….
The Tiki Room is awesome! I am jealous you got to hang in it, Pete. And that’s a pretty expensive bulb… maybe the “coin offering” could’ve gone t’wards bulb replacement… eh, Dizney’s good for it…
Speaking of DIZ… It’s official… I am goin’ to DIZlandia in June. Best news of all? Trader Sam’s Tiki Room is open in the Dizlandia Hotel… think the Jungle Ride meets The Enchanted Tiki Room. It’s the Enchanted Tiki Bar! Wooo hooo! I am so in Adventureland!
Joe… tanks! I will photo-document our Tiki Friday! maybe some video?
Would tend to think this was in the book but heres a site
