Midge Plans
So we get our first glimpse into Midge’s family life. And another glimpse into Mouse’s. Aunt Patty and Uncle Ted are mentioned in “way back Squid” around Christmastime. Mouse offers ho-ho dinner as an alternative to “canned meat.” Randie considers the offer.
A number of us are getting together at our church to have Thanksgiving and some fun. Two turkeys and a bunch of food. We’re deep-frying one of the birds. They are SO yummy when cooked that way. We’ll have the football games on (Go Packers! Lose Dallas!) and table games and all to play. A good time to be had by all!
Hope all of you have a Happy Thanksgiving, too! (Whether you are, have, or don’t celebrate it.)
Seems like Midge’s Mom will be having her Wild Turkey out of the bottle, while Mouse’s Aunt will be having hers off the platter.
Are you ready for some FOOOOOOOOT-BAAAAAAALL?
The six teams playing this Thanksgiving all come from winning their previous games. Its said that when you’re winning, everyone is your friend. So entering the games, all the team players will be friends. But to win in football, somebody else has got to lose. So all may not be leaving so friendly. Will you be having your Wild Turkey on a plate or in a glass, sir?
5pm (pacific time) brings the Har-bowl. Former big time quarterback and now super winning (9-1) 49ers head coach Jim Harbough will be traveling with team to Baltimore to challenge head coach brother John Harbough’s Ravens. Go Niners. What sucks is that it will only be shown on the premium extra-cable-cost NFL network in most of the country. By by a quirk, SF will be able to see it on common, everyday CBS. Alas, so sad, for those of us out of that station’s reach. Hmm, sports bar or sportcenter recap? Likely the latter.
Happy Thanksgiving, also.
Pete… That sounds like a most wonderful time. I’ve not had the deep fried bird… but have seen Alton Brown make it many a time. Glad that you’ll be surrounded by friends and family and some friendly gaming.
Stick…. I hope that you enjoy the spectating. Perhaps with some Wild Turkey.
Me- I’ll be enjoying the Macy’s T-Day Parade… something that brings back fond memories of when my family was all poor and we watched the parade on our little black and white tv… which you had to get all close to the set because it was the world’s smallest screen. I haven’t watched the parade in the past several years… I was always in transit somewhere or something. But this year, I’m gonna sit and watch… smell our turkey a’cookin’ and making Mom’s famous diabetic seizure candied yams (well, it’ll be modifies a bit).
So to all my Squiddies out there…. Have a SUPERB Thanksgiving! Whether it’s spent with Wild Turkey, a wild turkey, or a filet of fish. God Bless Us, Every one (ooo, wait… too early).
Does anyone else notice the look Midge is giving Mouse in the last panel? She’s got a hankerin’ for more than just cranberry sauce, that’s for sure!
Hey, kids! Mouse reads SCAPULA! That’s because he’s got good taste!…or he’s just pretending to like comics to grab Midge’s attention.
Dada… Maybe Midge likes her some Wild Turkey… and she’s enjoying the thought.
Yah, Mouse has picked up some Scapula (he has questionable taste, don’t he? HA! Just kidding)… It’s hard to see but I put YOUR Randy on the back of the comic book there… just being silly… as is my right!
Also, kudos to Lovesick Robot… that shout out is easier to find.
Is that a squid Midge is wearing?
Dada… Nice plug.
brig… Nice Easter eggs. Even with tomorrow being Thanksgiving.
Coma/Shock inducing candied yams? Hopefully better than these:

Stick… if by Easter eggs, you mean hidden things? Sometimes I toss in something here and there.
Yah, Squid but hardly visible.
Ha! Funny toon… yah, Mom’s yams are like that.
Ha.
Maybe being a bit slow here, but just noticed that Mouse has a squid-shaped head. One that’s alot like the squid head on Midge’s shirt.
brig… That’s stick with a lower-case “s,” if you don’t mind. I alway sign my name lower case.
Happy Thanksgiving all, time for me to hit the road and go a’ traveling.
Everyone: Have a mirthful and gratitude-filled Thanksgiving, wherever you are and with whom. If you’re all alone, I hope you’ll seek out someone else who is, or just have a mellow, restful day– there’s always the option of turkey subs, pumpkin ice cream, and a great movie. Or get on down to wherever struggling folks are sharing with other struggling folks–I guarantee you will be the one who is blessed!
stick (with a lower case “s”)… I guess the squid shaped head was an unconscious thing.
Stay safe traveling! And have a good’un!
EofO… Kind words are like honey for the soul! Enjoy the heck out of your holiday! Are YOU having pumpkin ice cream? Judy just made some home-made pumpkin pie (using an uncarved pumpkin we got for Halloween). Gonna get me some of that! Smiles!
Going to Middle-of-Nowheresville, PA to break bread with my sister-in-law’s family.
