I just bought an item from a table just like this at aaron brothers.
A canvas for just $3.98! Not a bad deal!
I would so shop at a table with a sign like that! Think of the bargains! Heh… but that’s just me.
I would’ve bought some stuff. I like the honesty of it.
I have long thought that it would be great if there was a fastfood with a name like “Honest Burger” that would show actual prices after taxes and pictures of food as you would get it…smashed burger buns, fillings dripping out, sundaes in plastic cups, coffee in paper cups, etc. Burger King has tv screens that show their burgers on china plates, smoothies in tall shiny glasses…can’t be further from the truth.
brig… On the keeping of answers under tabs (Sunday, web-only comics)… you could always offer an answer page at the back of your next book. I have one of those books that have the scrambled up pictures that form 3-D images if you stare at them long enough. The book has the “3-D answers” at the back. Only thing is, not all of the scrambled pictures have 3-D effects, the book threw in some fakes to keep you guessing.
SquidMan… Deals indeed! and good going!
Pash… I would also… I am a seeker of hidden finds.
Jack… it’s a sincere sale table.
stick. Honestly… an honest burger would be like cooking in your own back yard… I don’t know if I wanna pay for that level of honesty. I want a little pizzaz. What gets me is when you see an advertisement and the burger food looks WAY SO better there, then when you get it actual in-store. It’s one reason Of the many reasons why, for the most part, I don’t eat fast food. Lies.
ooo… soap box?
as for the answers to comic conundrums in a book… Laying out a book in INdesign is a mighty undertaking and it’s expensive… I don’t know if having an answer page for just a few cartoons is worth the real estate. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Ah, ten year old Gesso…
When we had our comic book store and had built up a large supply of “ain’t nobody gonna buy these” comic books, we would bag them up, six to a bag, and then insert a seventh, collectible comic. The collectible comic was also a “get rid of” comic, but nonetheless had value according to the Overstreet Comics Guide. The collectible varied in value between $5 and $50. Then we’d jumble up the sealed bags and sell them as grab bags for $7. People bought up in nothing flat, hoping for that one $50 comic book in the twenty or so bags. It worked out well for everyone, because even if you only got a comic worth $5, you had seven comics to read.
Pete… yah… The last several years at APE,(except last year for some reason) Slave Labor Graphics did this same thing! They’d package the lot in a spiffy brown paper bag with their Fez Monkey logo on it… And I would buy their mystery grab back for a couple bucks… I actually look forward to these… it’s a fun mystery.
Beverly’s does that thing with the grab bags sometimes. I’m a complete sucker for them, even though I know I’ve already passed up everything inside when it was out in plain sight.
