Live Paint
Okay, you artists out there… if YOUR paintings could talk, what would they say?
*and do you recognize one of Randie’s paintings?

Thoughts…
Seems the character commentary on Grace is a bit harsh. Horns and a tail?
Ironic that a clean-cut Ryan is yammering about home-cleanliness. ha.
What? No Twinkie pics? Randie forced him into model servitude and yet what’s to show of it?
Yikes, that apparent pink Randie silhouette on the Vespa is hairless.
And, speaking of hair, why is there a picture of John Edwards smelling a cup of coffee?
stick,
I think that’s Brig in that last painting. A self portrait?
Joe… I don’t think so, too much hair there, maybe her friend Judy sans eyeglasses?
ok, late post about he snape thing, I was sick and missed the discussion. I feel that the whole story is as much about snape as it is about harry. he truly loved lily, and he gave everything for her, in the end, he gave his life to preserve her memory in her son, despite what it cost him. for every time he saw harry, he saw james. the internal struggle, the anguish, the heartbreak, the man was a tortured soul. and in the end, he devoted his entire life to protecting the one piece of Lily that was left, no matter how much it pained him to do so. His story is a classic. the tragic hero, for whom nothing ever goes right, but he fights on. and in the end, saves the day, at the cost of his own life. it is, as I said, a classic archetype in lit, that was masterfully executed by both JK and Rickman.
as a side note, crew from the first film say that JK took rickman aside on the first day of shooting and spent about 5 minutes or so alone with him. he alone likely knew the truth of snape, and did a marvelous job.
aaand I wrote way too much. Harry Potter is probably #2 on my big fan list. (between star trek (#1) and Star Wars (#3))
On topic, I’m a photographer, so most of my prints are in light tight archive boxes, so if they could talk, you;d just hear muffled cries from my shelfs. kinda scary actually.
I know my characters in my novels talk to me. After what I put a lot of them through to reach the end of each story, what they have to say to me isn’t repeatable for the most part. 😉
Arrgh! Artists…what if your paintings could talk? Paintings? Paintings?
Well, with writers, as well as stick-figurers, the characters do start to talk.
You begin with a narrative, a story line, and create special characters to fit its needed roles.
You then put the characters through their paces, but in time they begin to speak for themselves, provided your creative work is long enough for your creations to gain a voice of their own.
Mostly they say, “I want to do things my own way…yeah, freedom, yikes, freedom, oh oh, freedom, whew, freedom, uh, freedom at last, but wait…shared freedom?…ah, understanding.”
This kinda reminds me of Rod Serling’s ‘Night Gallery’ show.
Pete: Yah, once you know yer characters’ personalities and how your characters will react to stimuli, other characters and situations… they, themselves, run with it!
Jack: Night Gallery scared the living daylights outta me!! The episode of the disembodied hand! aaaaaaa! Side note: Did you know that they are bringing back Dark Shadows?
Hawk: I LOVE your assessment. It’s all right there. Snape’s LOVE… (and all you really need is love) is part of the “old magic” that helps to save Harry…. not just his mother’s love. It’s such a deep story… and I’m with you… Star Wars (orig) & Harry saga & Star Trek (orig)… I’m not sure of the order. (I do like Lord/Rings… but am not a BIG fan)….
sidenote: there are tents in front of The Maya Cinema… for tonight’s midnite showing of Larry, I mean Harry Potter. I bought my tix this morning for tomorrow nite. I thought it would be best.
Joe & Stick: The portrait I was referring to is not the last one… but the one prior… it’s been in a previous storyline before.
I don’t think it’s harsh to horn Grace. Randie would consider her the evil-doer of the Artbox… perhaps that’d make a good comics series Randie could draw.
brig…
Sorry, don’t recall the long-necked Rye painting from before.
On to the last one…Who was closer with their guess of it’s subject…
Joe with Bridgett Spicer, or me with John Edwards?
For that matter, is it of a girl or a guy?
Stick… well, to be honest… It’s just a random coffee-goer Randie sketched, probably at Joe’s Cuppa Joe. As all art is subjective and open to personal interpretation, either of you could be correct… except I am having less hair at present.
If you go over to the Tag Cloud at right, and find the word “painting,” and go back a few pages…you’ll find “Ryan” in his portrait-ness there.
brig… Hmm, either correct, eh?…guy’s like competition, prefer winners and losers…
More hair? OK, gotta ask…did you ever have hair similar to Randie’s in style and color?
I had tried the “paintings” link below your description but it wasn’t too helpful.
The “painting” one in your tag cloud was much more so.
Ha, the picture makes me think of a long-necked clam.
Dark Shadows!? Really? I hope they do it justice. I’ve only seen a few episodes but I am looking forward to it.
Dark Shadows again? They resurrected that soapy beast many moons back…Barnabus Collins and all…it’s second life proved to be short lived, though. Maybe a third go round will be luckier, not to mention meatier and juicy-er, otherwise…it’ll be crossed out of the lineup.
I got my HP ticket for tomorrow, yup many folks camping out, some in costume, an honest to goodness geek fest. Hoo-wee.
