Life
Can you imagine trying to get home for ten years? Your cat would’ve already disowned you (if still alive!), everything in your fridge sprouted legs and walked out, your laundry… well… Stink!… probably even fused together!
Too, this comic was me exploring through Randie, how one minute your life is together as you’ve planned it, and then ONE thing happens and upends the applecart and nothing is the same from that point on. ONE moment in time. An Omega 13 moment…. (Galaxy Quest…). Except, I don’t think that B.B.’s situation could’ve been changed by not eating the pickles.
are they going to name the kid telemachus? at least leroy probably won’t have to shoot a horde of suitors.
Galaxy Quest – one of my favorite movies of all time!
Don’t speed on your way home, you could hear SIRENS!
Never give up. Never surrender.
Polyphemus kept an eye out for Odysseus. Wonk wonnnnk.
anatman… there is also a St. Telemachus… a monk. I’m not sure how Leroy and B.B. would feel about that.
Rich… mine, too! I still laugh uncontrollable when the monster is beamed up and “It exploh-ded.”
Jack… Hahahahaha … seagulls know about Sirens, yes? Do they laugh?
Fun Mike… “By Grapthar’s hammer…” ” I won’t say that stupid line, one… more… time… I won’t.”
Dada… WHah-whah!
I just watched that movie again this weekend! Funny thing, my wife enjoyed it more than I did, and she’s The Padawan Geek. Must be getting a bit jaded in my geek dotage.
We could do so many memes with Randie’s face in panel two! Love the expressions in this strip 🙂
We mostly forget that U spent the bulk of his ten years on the way hme in an extended affair. Also he had been gone for the preceding ten years (Trojan War).
Jon… haha! Funny how life works.
Ep… thank you… Randie is a bit of a silly, isn’t she? even when she’s being all serious.
Beetle… I hope he didn’t have any cats. They would have disowned him after a couple of days.
Big Head Press has a WONDERFUL version of the Odyssey on their Website caled “Odyssus The Rebel” that was written by Steven Grant and Illustrated by Scott Bieser. It’s also been printed and I’ve given seeral copies as gifts. Classic materiel can (and SHOULD) be re-interpreted every generation or so.
Leo… thank you for the info. I’m sure that folks will enjoy that.
I read The Odyssey in high school, WAAAY long time ago. I had a very “pushy” teacher, Mrs. Hart, who opened up Frosh eyes and minds. I loved being in that class (It was MOST challenging) and I credit Mrs. Hart for many literary discoveries and ideas. She’s passed on now. God bless her.
Ah, the Odyssey. The ultimate example of a simple thing going horribly, horribly, HORRIBLY complicated and wrong! Much like B.B. and Leroy’s day. Shouldn’t have bragged about having time……
Aw…just when I was the most annoyed at BB, she goes and has her beebee. And now I just have warm fuzzies for all three of them. Innit always like that?
