Hi hi!
As a writer, I have almost no clue into the art world. But as the father of an 11-year old who’s getting deeper and deeper into art, I can say those art books ARE heavy. I’m guessing it’s because the page stock needs to be much thicker and denser so pictures don’t show through. And, of course, the much higher gloss on all pages can’t help much, either.
Ah, well… just look at all that extra weight as an incentive to NOT put similar weight on your thighs, tummy and other areas. *hehe*
I’m disturbed by the fact that this character appears to have one giant globulous eye.
Yup. High quality paper to take the high res print. That’s why it guts me to see these books for sale in the bargain bin for $5. It’s nice for me but such an undervaluing of the thing’s inherent worth, if you know what I’m saying.
Hey! I recognize that bike! Heeheehee…write what you know, girl! Love…
Also, most art books are large format, which adds to the weight. Even heavier, although somewhat smaller format, is “Compos Rendus”, the main French technical journal (it’s been years, so I may have the title a bit off). Most people nearly drop the first issue they pick up.
no doubt. I have a library of very heavy, quality art books.
I hate moving.
