Let It Rain
I wouldn’t do it… deliver anything in the rain. I am not one who enjoys being out in the rain. I tend to like dryness… inside… while it’s raining outside. You see, I usually carry paper and art supplies… I don’t like my stuff getting soaked.
I just hate the rain in general, I don’t like being wet and I don’t like being cold. Rainy days should automatically be scheduled as ‘stay in bed with a good book’ days.
I’ve got some… damp memories of my first year of art college, being too cheap to take the bus and having to walk a kilometer to the computer labs in the pouring rain, since the downtown crosscurrents were decidedly unfriendly to umbrellas. I smelled like soaking wet denim a lot that year.
See i have fond memories of doing my newspaper deliveries in the rain.
There is a point at which you are so wet that you cant get any wetter. And then you stop caring and just enjoy it!
Rain sun sleet or storm, the news must get through!
I’m with Ryan, staying in when its raining outside is great. Having to ford a sunken landscape, not so great. So I’m with Randie too.
I well rememberl a Honda I had that would leak like crazy when it rained. The over head light compartment would fill up and then all too soon would waterfall into the car. As much as we tried, noone could find out why it did it or stop it. Had lots of wet towels in that car during rains.
smile: The oh so subtle tiki picture.
cringe: The drip, drip, drip sound of falling water filling up a pot or bowl. Evan worse than a faucet as it picks up more speed and so makes more endless noise.
Chug… I like your line of thinking. I enjoy listening to the rain … and positioning a big fat comfy chair next to a window… with my sketchbook would be most ideal!
Cy… Mine too! My first year at UC Santa Cruz, it rained so hard… one of the rainiest on record. My car was sidelined and I had to take the bus… Are you sure you didn’t go to UCSC?
Minion (Hello! and great name!) There is that point where ya go “Well, f word (fuh)… I might as well just go with it…” That has happened maybe once in my life… but I wish I wasn’t so squeemish about the rain, because my peeps love walking in said water spouts. You are most fortunate to like the “out in the rain”…
I don’t think the rest of the states know how rainy it gets on the Coast, especially the Oregon coast. There’s so many leaks! I’ve been in Portland for over a decade now, yes, it is rainy here, but the coasts, man, that’s some rain!
Poor Randie!
stick… yah, ALL my cars that I’ve owned leaked… with my bug, I used to joke that if you turned on the heater, you’d have a hot tub…. except the heater didn’t work. My Nissan Pulsar had a t-top… you can see the problem there… And my Toyota truck… sigh… I hafta keep newspapers in the car to soak up the moisture….good in the summer… lousy in the winter.
Jack… it’s one of the reason’s I can’t live in Portland. Sigh… and I really like Portland.
Aaaah….I love the rain!! I love being curled up under a warm blanket with a good book and hot cup of coffee….but especially love being out in it with my grandkids splashing in the puddles!!
