Last Stops
Portland is also known as Bridge City. There are bridges all over the place. One wrong turn, when driving in Portland, and you’re on a bridge going over the river.
But I love symbolism… and bridges… well, there’s symbolism.

Could their relationship be “crossing a bridge”? Stay tuned and find out!
For some reason I can image Twinkie hiding in the trunk
Wha?? Well, yah, two weeks have passed, but it seems that this whole wedding sequency has ended far to quickly. So much more milk could have come from this cow. Twinkie fussing and fuming in the back of the bug — I’m sure he’d have needed a poop break. That town of “Drain” where they ran out of gas — there could have been a funny landmark there. There could have been a speedtrap on the way out — they might not have appreciated the competition in the siren department. There could have been the bride and groom’s first dance, a group chicken dance being joined by a bunch of runaway chickens, cake cutting and feeding, bouquet toss, bicycle huff and puff out of the place after being fully grubbed down.
Nice picture postcard departure of Portlandia.
Hmm, a plug of Powell’s Books? Maybe a product placement with them drinking cans of Pepsi as they drive off?
Great bridge metaphor for relationships. And yes, bridges are a good thing. Without them, one wrong turn will put you in the drink.
And, yeh, I don’t see their relationship changing as a result, not of Randie, Ryan, nor, likely stowaway, Twinkie.
Powell’s Books…I got my Dictionary of Russian Obscenities from there.
Oooo… Powell’s Books! Bethlynne and I spent a couple days there a few years back. We loved it! (And they carry my books, too. Woo hoo!) 😀
Hoo boy…Powell’s. Good luck getting Randy and Rye Bread out of there in under a week!
Twinkie: In ur suitcase, planning ur doom.
Thats a very nice shot of the St Johns there =)
One of the prettier bridges in Portland. I’m a bit partial to the Fremont myself, but then I like nice sleek arch bridges.
I hope AIL will prevail and Twinkie will find his way back home. I will miss that cat if he doesn’t. And, even though I am a Twinkie fan, I am still hoping Randie will get a dog.
Yeah, I’m a fan of bridges. Been on a fair number of ’em. The Golden Gate, the mighty Mackinac, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, lotta others I don’t know the names of.
Hum.
I don’t suppose you’d do a print of that bridge shot? It’s one of the nicest renditions of the area and the bridge I’ve seen…
Watch which way you cross the St. John’s bridge!
The St. Johns bridge makes it look like you’d be crossing into some wondrous place full of magic and beauty. But be warned, you’ll only find yourself in ‘eh’ St. Johns. (I’m not disparaging the place, but that bridge is such a tease.)
And when at Powells, go out the south door, cross the street, around the Sizzle Pie pizza parlor and down to CounterMedia, where they sell the books they don’t sell in Powells. Oh my!
Wow… glad you all liked the bridge here… It took a long time to do… so I am glad you all enjoyed.
Legacy… thank you… and yes, I can do up a print of the entire cartoon. Interested?
I have to be careful about how long story lines last… peoples get bored… I don’t want to spend TOO much time on one subject. The story isn’t finished by any means.
I think Portland is pretty magical and wondrous. CounterMedia, eh?
