America’s favorite mind altering substance!
Don’t believe me? Go ahead, take your life in your hands and get between a coffee addict and their morning fix.
Impudentus… Greetings, oh caffeinated one! Yes, drugs in a cup is a good way to put it… but also mood enhancer, creative kicker, joy juice, safety precaution, enabler…
Might Randi declare #2 most mind altering substance acrylics? Or is is some other medium?
In her case, a happy ‘medium’ might be one with an endless supply of espresso, instead of a drunk fortune teller!
Impud… Haha… Oils have more mind-altering capabilities… the fumes are quite strong! HA ha… a happy medium… I’m thinking a painting studio right about a coffee shoppe!
Yeah, I remember Oil paints, it’s why all painters use to have ‘Church Key’s’ something about the Alcohol helped to even out the more stressing parts of the oil fumes.
That’s a rather specific drawing for a background character. Is that someone, or just anyone? I don’t think it’s Fred because he always wears long sleeved shirts. If it is Fred, why isn’t he hiding his tats today?
Just curious.
Oh, and the lady too.
This is actually one of my chief complaints about American culture– we seem to think that ‘enjoy’ means the same thing as ‘overindulge’, rather than ‘savor’.
I was pleased to see in the news yesterday they reminded everyone of the already well-known study data showing that consumption of 4-6 servings of coffee a day are good for the health – improved memory, reduced chance of diabetes, reduced chance of alzheimer’s … all thanks to caffeine’s properties and the way coffee delivers them.
Mind you they spared us the reminders of what overindulgence can do as a counterpoint, and that includes people like Randie who forget that a single triple espresso counts as 3 or more servings all by itself, and that’s assuming she didn’t get the XL cup … and the study assumes normal consumption *rates* so even having one of those puppies might be bad if you chug it. o.O
Imp… I may have severely damaged my brain and nasal passages in college… lots of oil paint and turp smells hanging in the air…
Unca Bad… The lady is Betsy Streeter, fellow tooner and all around awesome person. We will be at APE this year, and our tables will be right next to one another! The random floating arm could be any of the baristas that serve me at The Cherry Bean in Salinas.
Chug… I tend to agree. Somewhere since the Great Depression, we got to be overindulgent, overweight, overspending, over-stuffing peoples… I don’t like the labels that other countries have given us… but sadly, many of them are true.
Grey… I like “good for your health” … I am being more and more conscience of that term… OVER anything is bad… even moderation at times… but still. Coffee, in Randie’s scheme of things is probably tipping to the OVER indulgent side.

DRUGS IN A CUP!!!!
Wow, I love the jiggly words! I wasn’t sure if it was them or if my own coffee hadn’t kicked in yet….
