Jazzy
As it is The Monterey Jazz Fest this weekend, I am laying down a jazz toon… with a bit of history. Kai lays it down.
1959 was a monumental year in jazz. And it was one year before that that The Monterey Jazz Fest was started in Monterey, California.
And I was born in 1959. So…. yeah, it was a good year! 😉
Don’t forget to go vote!

Can’t be overfond of the year Buddy Holly died.
I noticed he specified 1959 at first as opposed to ’59 🙂
Tom Servo would be proud 😛
Could be worse… 1918 was another signature year for Jazz – with the Axeman of new Orleans telling folks that he wouldn’t kill them if they were playing Jazz….

My own tastes in Jazz are 1930s – 1940s.
The Auld Grump – Body & Soul….
I was born in 1959, and that is why everything changed.
Haha…. 1959… I bow to Servo for sure! Jim, Pete… good year to be born, I guess… yah?
Robert… oh… well, add him to the list of snuffed out stars, I guess.
Axeman? WHa? Grump… that is horrible! I’ve never heard of this counterpart to Jack the Ripper! I guess you can make a jazz song about anything!
JC… thanks for the plug… obviously…. it worked!!!! THank you ALL!!!!!
The only reason that I know about it is that I ran across a mystery by Julie Smith, titled The Axeman’s Jazz.
Recently it showed up for the Kindle as a free download, but I read it back in the 1990s.
