The finances of some are better suited for giving than others. I’m told that within the Mormon Church, members are supposed to tithe 15%. I’m sure the church was happy when Steven Young (a direct decendent of Brigham Young of BYU fame no less) was earning big time 49er quarterbacking and Toyota ad pitching bucks. Hmm, wonder how much uber-rich, presidential hopeful Mitt gives? Anyway, Randie’s a bit stretched both money and time wise to be doing much giving.
At least she can now pay her own way the next time she and Ryan go out for cheeseburgers and fries.
Who cares what Mormons give their church? They also have the most wonderful community support system among themselves that I’ve ever seen. Kinda gotta envy that. Anyhoooooo…
Randie is not Ryan, and I doubt she’ll save money back. Depending on how much it is, she may take all her friends to the Tiki place–or coffee, whichever is more doable. And ART SUPPLIES. Yeah.
stick… Hmmm… went from giving to tithing. Well, Let’s bring it back to just giving what ya can. Randie does give… and she ain’t always in the position to. But she has empathy… and that’s where it comes from. Maybes Taco Hut will be on her… or the next Guinness at The London Pub.
EofO… or maybe Randie will save the whole lot just in case…. HAA HAAA HAA! …… no, she’ll buy at least ONE tube of paint…
While the giving portion of my comment is based upon Biblical teachings, it’s certainly useful to anyone with love for their neighbor. (“Neighbor” in the “whole wide world” sense.)
The teachings? Not at all what many people think. There’s no tithing. Instead:
1. Give off the top, not the bottom. (So that you keep the needs of others above yours.)
2. Give generously, but within your ability/income. Challenge your limits, but never to the harm of you and your loved ones.
3. Give cheerfully. If you do it with complaint, it is no longer giving, is it?
4. Give regularly. Supporting others in need is a good habit to form.
“Money left over”? What’s that?
It’s something to save for next month — or next crisis, whichever comes first.
Art Supplies!
Split it like this:
1. Give some to a favorite charity/cause.
2. Save some. (And DON’T TOUCH IT!)
3. Have a little left over to treat yourself.
That’s how we counselled our kids whenever they received/earned money. Do it in that order and you’ll be content!
😀
I agree with you Pete but you should save some for yourself first so you don’t become a charity case yourself!
Yat… how ’bout it. Randie’s 3 jobs are paying up and paying off.
Mary… Rainy day-crisis-mula is good… but I know how Randie is…
Jack… I know! That would be an investment in her own business… providing she can find buyers…
Pete… exlnt advice for sure. Give some-save some-spend some.
Eprinc… sure… makes sense. Giving within your own means is good.
Someone told me once that when blessings come from above, spread your fingers out a little so that some fall thru to others.
COFFEE KEGGER!
Yah… Dada… drink your money away… or coffee high it away.

Here endeth the encouragement. 🙂
