Hypothetical
Randie hasn’t once entertained the idea that she might not win the free trip to Paris. There have been a few times in my life where I was absolutely certain I would win something… and in fact, did! I don’t know where the clarity of mind and outcome came from… but the results were most desirable. I hope this for Randie also.
Brig, you never know… If you sweet-talk the rather nice lady who draws this comic, she might be persuaded to draw a happy outcome for Randie!
Mark, going off to see if there are any articles online regarding “webcomic-artist disassociation”… š
*ha!* I’ve been in the “waiting game” before, to! I was waiting to see if my novel would make it to the finalists of a writing contest (it did) and then win (it did). Talk about pins and needles!
Best way to deal with it? Don’t wait for the contest to end. Start a completely new and different project. You’ll (hopefully) get so wrapped up in it that when (if) you DO win the contest, it’ll be a double-whammy of joy with chocolate sprinkles!
Yes, Astragali, I feel a little like Zeus… picking up “his favorite mortal” like an (artist) action figure and moving her around… Zeus could be persuaded… I have my weaknesses…. Hello! Chocolate sprinkles is ONE! Pete… “joy with chocolate sprinkles” is just the bestest phrase ever!
And good advice on what to do whilst waiting. Ryan may need to borrow that sometime. May he?
Let’s hope that Ryan never has to pull out both puppies and kittens to cheer up Randie. I don’t think I want to see Randie that sad, ever again (what with her house burning down before being about that level).
As for what to do while waiting, maybe reading Terry Pratchett? Everyone needs a guilty pleasure.
Aw! That is totally something a friend would say to me, “think puppies in a basket” an that would help.
