Hand Up
It’s an apprenticeship in Tiki Bar-ism… and why not help someone who needs a break? The world needs more people who are willing to give a hand up… not just “hey, here’s a dollar-have a nice day.”

Having just powered through your entire archive, I have to say……. a very enjoyable and well constructed story! Color me impressed. I should have skipped over here some time back. Your research, broad scope of knowledge, and characters are all well done, the generally cheerful atmosphere is (while personally nauseating) a change of pace, and among slice-of-life comics yours maintains a rare commodity: being believable. In today’s comic alone I can enjoy a similarity to my life; my Pocket Philosopher once dragged me out of a serious bleak part of my life just after we had first met. So yes, I wholly agree the world needs more honestly helpful people! They’re a rare joy when tripped over, if you recognize them!
The old saying is so true: Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.
Or, as we like to say in our house: Light a man a fire and he’ll stay warm for a night. Light a man ON fire, and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life. 😉
Lady Jenn (WELCOME!) … thank you of the kind criticism. I appreciate the feedback. I have tried to keep the comic truer than made up unbelief-type story-telling. I like it when folks can find something in Squid Row that parallels something in their own lives…. much like you did with today’s comic. At times, Randie’s life resembles or has resembled mine. I literally draw from life.
If you were looking to expand your Squid Row reading even further… look over at WebcomicsNation.com…. where this comic started. DAY ONE lives over there. A link exists above today’s comic… hit the tab “Old Squid Toons.” Enjoy and thanks for delving into Squid Row!
Pete… Ha ha …. teach a man to fish and drink, he’ll not hunger or thirst. Teach a man to drink like a fish, he’ll not go thirsty… but he’ll lose his lunch.
Lady Jenn, don’t forget to read the comments.
