stick… hmm…. Randie likes Jazz… and electronic dance stuff… I would pick something swingy. Tonight I’ll be going to some gypsy jazz guitar. That’d get the mop moving.
Jack… Yah… the joys of employment.
Squiddies: What music would YOU play whilst mopping?
i know…it’s menial labor…but at least it helps in augmenting the paycheck. as for what i listen to while performing such a task…anything from the beatles first four capitol albums works great for me!
When I was night custodial at D-land, I carried a Sony Walkman with me and played recordings of A Prairie Home Companion. I also had an audio cassette recording of the entire Disney movie “Sleeping Beauty” that I listened to so often on that midnight shift that to this day I can still recite/sing that movie word for word in its entirety.
brig… I wasn’t thinking so much of the music as I was the name of the band and Randie’s state of being. Still, Grateful Dead music crosses many borders. It’s said to be an eclectic mix of pop, rock, folk, blues, bluegrass, raggae, country, improvisational jazz and, uh, space rock. Not sure about that last one, but if you’ve ever listened to their live music (as opposed to studio) you’d hear them get into many an improvisational jam and just go on forever with a song.
As for my own selection, I’d go for something motivational. I’ve got a cd The Offspring’s Innay on the Hombre in my car right now, and I’d definitely choose that. It encourages what I like to call enthusiastic driving, especially when you CRANK IT UP.
Oh, and if this is going to be a longish stint for Randall, maybe she can check out some French learing tapes from the library to listen and learn from.
firedome… Beatles is good listening… and Randie needs the money… so mop-mop-mop!
Pete… ah… PHC… good entertaining and fun listening. Back in the day, I recorded (via the most primative means) Star Wars on cassette… and, like you, could recite it backwards and forwards. Good stuff.
stick… Ah… GRATEFUL Dead… yah, now I get it. Yes… lots of folks, I’m sure, would choose it as their groove whilst tasking music anyhow. And Randie would do well with the French tapes… that’d be a great suggestion. I’ve taken to walking home listening to French podcasts that do much the same. Gatta get ready!
Folk music, almost entirely, with a very small amount of Celtic rock and Irish Punk thrown in.
Irish Punk and Irish folk music are very different – one is about drinking, and fighting, and sex, and about how the world is basically unfair and the other… okay, they are the exact same thing. :^P
The Auld Grump – Haul on the bowline so early in the mornin’. Haul on the bowline, the bowline HO! Haul on the Bowline, sweet Becky comes from Liverpool. Haul on the bowline, the bowline HO!
Mop, mop, mop, all day long, gonna mop, mop, mop while I sing this song.
Gonna mop that floor, gonna make it shine, gonna take off the spraypaint with turpintine!
She should play Grateful Dead music on the shop stereo while she works.
Ugh, the mop. I’d be moping when mopping too.

Probably Mozart.
I’d listen to Mozart and other composers of music.
Ahh, I wouldn’t mind mopping at all. It’s mindless and easy and gets you some cash~
I, uhm, sing, when mopping.

Mary & Michael… I love me some Mozart and some Beethoven… it’s good to listen to when I’m trying to write.
CHase… sometimes activities like housecleaning is a good time to “clear your head…” Or “clean out your head.
Grump… how Disney of you… singing while you work…. It DOES make things go by more pleasant-like.
Squid… you mop… don’t you?
Of course!
Anyone know the lowdown dirty mop bucket blues? :^P
TAG‘
Someone’s got to say:
“No. But hum a few bars and I’ll fake it.”
Just remember Randie – that mop is less argumentative than the customers at the Artbox and easier to talk to than Grace. It’s all about the upsides.
