Goodbye Party
Potlucks are the total best. You get a fine array of “other people’s cooking” as well as a wide variety (if planned right). It’s fun to sample other people’s food construction. For instance, potato salad is a side dish that can vary greatly… some frown on adding peas…. I like lots of mustard and pepper. Skins or no skins? Either is good with me.
I am much more of a food adventurer since traveling abroad. I love trying new stuff. The other night, at Kokoro (sushi), I saw a plum paste roll… and was curious. (For the record, I don’t need to have it again, but I am glad I tried it).
Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of him.
He also needs learn how to use the word “rubbish”. Very important.
I’m glad that our Ryan is going to be looked after… I thank you personally, Luke. I will see to it that “rubbish” is used appropriately (both literally and figuratively). Cheers! (and, by the way… Smiles to you!)
Brilliant.
brig, kudos on continuing the week strip into the Sunday edition.
Sundays tend to be stand-alones with most strips.
And, so, Rye is preparing to set off for Brit-land with some assistance from Randie.
I like to think that I’m fluent in English, ’twas not my original language, but I find myself lagging in British. “Bon Voyage Ryan” the banner proclaims.
Brilliant.
Seems like Randie’s newly upgraded furniture has already picked up a ring (nicely illustrated, too). Like they say, “its not a party unless something gets spilled.” I also like the emotional swings Randie goes through from frame to frame. Wow, that girl’s a full-blown party in her own right.
Potlucks can be a blast. I recall being scolded by pot purists when, as part of a church group, I brought the likes of a large Taco Bell taco tray, and for Thanksgiving when I was assigned mashed potatoes, a few tubs of KFC mashers and gravy. Funny thing was, all of my offerings got snapped up immediately, while some of the others were left behind. smile.
eel sushi is goooood.
Also, brig, and any other of my fellow Catholic-upbringing folks out there considering Lenten vows ahead of Easter…the rat character on, ahem, “Pearls” has “found” religion and opted to fast for Lent. Hint, it’s not beer. http://comics.com/zoom/359677/
Ah, brilliant.
Heh. Ryan may need a Monty Python / Young Ones / Are You Being Served? marathon before embarking.
UWG… Yes, indeed!… or a lovely little series called “Good Neighbors” (“The Good Life” in UK)…
Stick… Literary types can throw good parties… artists, too! Potlucking is fun… you never know what will wind up at the table…including KFC (apparently). I do hate rings on tables… I always have coasters around.
Sushi… unagi makes me very happy… BBQ eel is one of my favorites… Waloo is becoming a HUGE fav right now. Try it, raw fish eaters… you won’t be sorry.
I chuckled at your link, Stick. The wings and halo are a nice touch. I love the pig’s eyes when he gets mad.
Flourless can be great. As long as one substitutes high fat/high yum substances like ground nuts. A local Mexican restaurant does a flourless chocolate cake. Vegan, no less. But tastes oh so yummy.
@ crow – my sister makes one of those, with either almond or pecan flour. delicious! However, new studies are showing that gluten-free, unless you have celiac disease, doesn’t do you much good. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/susan-b-dopart-ms-rd/gluten-free-diet-_b_838040.html
I can’t believe Ryan’s really leaving! Wahhh!
Crow & Dani… I’m not against flour-less. But the substitutions don’t always make it low-fat… which is always a concern for me. So more power to ya Vegan-flourless-people!
Dani… interesting article. Diabetes runs strong in my family… I have found that when I eat less bread I feel better and tend to lose weight. According to the article, that may not be the gluten. (I do LOVE bread… which is the irony)…. mmm bread… dipped in olive oil and balsamic… oh stop.
Anna… Oh, he’s excited about it. Randie…? not so much.
