Good Idea
Polynesian dreams… this is probably what Gauguin’s daydreams looked like… (except for the tiki mug… and HIS daydream would have had some naked Polynesian girls in it as well). This toon is also, visually, the way I felt like when I got back from Hawaii.
She could just daydream about Gauguin doing the dishes …
A little more background on Friday’s Det. Joe Minotaur story:

Watch the video first and you’ll know where most of the idea for the story came from.
Also, one member of the commentors at the Pibgorn site, went on holiday to Scandinavia and had some Lutefisk in Norway. Since most of the people were familiar with Monty Python’s Flying Circus, it seemed natural to make up a story that featured that cafe in the Spam sketch and throw in the Lutefisk at the end. The response I got there was priceless!
You never know where you can get ideas from. Inspiration can come in many forms, but so can the pressure to produce instant art. Deadlines may be necessary, but they do not inspire. There is always a certain ebb and flow rhythm to art and writing that can get in the way of a steady paycheck.
G-Wolf… That’d make it a nightmare.
Joe… Loved the Viking Spam vid…how’d you ever get a youtube piece in w/o embedding? Its been a detriment of mine for some time now. Nice backstory…when you’re crafting art it tends to be for yourself and a certain audience…backstories explain things and tend to broaden appreciation. Looks like you relate to the strip… Creativity is dreams, paychecks are dishes.
brig… Great colors and wave, water effects. Pretty scary looking tiki mug. Might have to be turned facing away for the first few sips. Seems that Ryan is the voice of reason here…he must not be too inspired presently. They so need an inspirational chore escape-clause.
Dangnangit, don’t remind me that I have dishes to do! 😛
Argh! Those damn dirty dishes! They’re like Gremlins, they multiply with water. Stacks and stacks! Up to the ceiling! I hate dishes! Who doesn’t!?
stick-figurer,
I didn’t do anything different about copying/pasting the link. It just worked for me.
For a short while this afternoon, I could not navigate to this website. I sent Brig a text and tried it again. It worked just before she texted me to say that it had worked for her. Go figure.
Ha ha! Gauguin doing the dishes… I can see him doing the dishes dreaming of Tahitian women doing dishes.
Joe… I, too, had some problems getting on the site… Nelson, my web guru, contacted Laughing Squid, who got right on it. Apparently they found the culprit… something to do with Paypal… and there was fixing.
Jack… yah! Gremlins… laundry is like that, too.
stick… Ryan is a little like Felix Unger… I think he is sometimes troubled by Randie’s “artist” habitat.
Brig,
Glad it wasn’t my imagination. Didn’t mean to cause a panic, but yours was the only site that wouldn’t load. Did you enjoy the “Spam” video?
There’s a giant Gauguin coming out of the ocean!…egad, it’s Gaugzilla!
Haa haa! Gaugzilla… and he likes the Tahitian ladies… oh wait, that’s King Gaug.
Joe… Ha! I just watched the Spam. Having not been much of a Monty P fan, this one made me laugh. I actually like Spam… but the light stuff… which has half the one million mgs of salt.
