Gift Mouse
I hate it when someone tells you what they nearly bought you (gift-wise)… because usually, that stuff would’ve been better than what they wound up getting you. Randie seems pleased though. I dunno… I think the coffee mightah done me alright.
“I was gonna blahblahblahblah, but blahblahblahblah. ” It usually happens when someone feels like they have to make excuses for what they’ve done.
Was a time that would have been my favorite gift! In fact, my brother gave me a bunch of back-issues for Christmas one year because I hadn’t had the money to buy them for several months. Best gift ever! Sadly, I had to stop reading them when they changed artists and made Emma Frost look like a psudo-anime teenie-bopper. Blegh.
Yay! I was feeling nervous for Mouse during all that build-up, but seeing Randie’s sincere excitement just makes me so happy!
…also, is that copy of Ex-Men NOT bagged and boarded? What kind of comic book shop does Midge work in?!
Im glad to see that Mouse finally settled on a gift for Randie. Way ta go Mouse!
Happy Birthday Randie!!!
*hehe* I was the same as Joe: “Quick! Back and bag it!”
For those interested, there IS an X-Men 395, and the cover looks like this:

lmao…back and bag it, we has spoken đŸ™‚ great minds and all
I would think that an issue of the Ex-Men, that was published on Randie’s birthday, all those years ago, might be more meaningful.
I’ve given Dollar coins, minted in the year of their birth, to my niece and nephews.
You guys is so serious about your comics! Randie is gonna thumb thru the comic and look at the art.. then go and read the comic… then go back and RE-look at all the artwork. Maybe sketch from the art… Then, if she REALLY likes it… go back and get a fresh comic in a bag for keepers. The other one will be the “study & read copy.” …………….. Am I just weird? I mean, is SHE just weird?
WHOA! Apparently X-Men 395 IS a classic! Forty bucks! Thanks for the link, Pete! You have a curious mind… I like that!
Okay, you make a good point (I also would have accepted the artistic “how would you draw a comic book and indicate that it’s bagged and boarded?” argument). My issue was more with Midge for not having the comic bagged and boarded in the shop…sorry, my wife and I have taken to making weekly comic shop pilgrimage and I think I could count on 2 hands the number of comics that aren’t bagged up.
Sorry, nerd moment over. You may go about your regularly scheduled day now…
Joe Minotaur,
I love the idea of getting “birthday” comics! I found some old Life magazines from the year I was born…very special! (But they aren’t backed and bagged…Ya can’t stop time, guys…)
So much offered about bagging and boarding. But that would just make the comic harder for Randie to read. I’m wondering about what sort of inscription Mouse may have written inside. Hopefully Randie’s not going to spill any coffee or jelly on the book too soon. Ah, life’s prizes.
‘Love’ in the form of a comic book. Randie should know there’s more behind this gift.
