Funny Way
Would you take it? Given Randie’s position… it’s a sure thing… and a better income. And NO Grace! (disappointing that may be to some of you.)

There’s going to be some kind of twist where Grace is still in the comic, right?
RIIIIIIIIGHT?
Yeah… but methinks God’s answer is going to be a conditional “yes”. As much of a groodge as she is, Grace is a terrific character, and I’m betting we’re going to be seeing her again at some point.
Sm Dave et Pete…
Ah… Grace… Do I detect some longing to see our favorite goth chick again?
Grace does seem to have a following. I must admit, I like her in my own way. As for her fate… well, I mustn’t say.
I note that Mouse did not ask for veto power on hiring decisions, so this is only until an aunt gets something into her head — if she does. It’s possible that she won’t.
So, Mouse moves into the family business (I know of some lucky folks who did this after graduating from school) and gets the courage to ask Randie out on an extended “date.” He better be careful about offering raises before his new store has any sales. California and a whole bunch of other states saw some good times during the real estate bubble and promised away the farm on rich pension plans, only to have the bubble burst and be stuck reducing police, fire and lots of other city services to have the money to continuing paying big retirements for life.
I’m (spider-)sensing that all the antagonists are disappearing from Randie’s life (Max/Jimmy, Grace, Twinkie). A story has to have antagonists in order to have protagonists (you can’t have day without night, light without dark to contrast it), plus villains make for fun characters and story lines, and I’m still hoping to see a Grace paper doll to see just how many tattoos she sports from head to toe. Well, a Grace paper doll layout after a Twinkie one. We’ve been given hero dolls in need of anti-hero counterparts.
No, no Grace…but he did hire her twin sister, Trace!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!
Grace is different from Twinkie because Grace had depth to her. A jerk, yes. But someone with dimension and complexity. (Especially when you showed us glimpses of her life outside the store.) Twinkie is just a predictable pain in the patootie. (Though I’ve liked him better recently.)
Mary… can you just see the hiring process with Mouse’s aunts? Aunt Patty will sit with her arms crossed through the whole thing…
stick… you are assuming that I have eliminated all the antagonists. (I can also create more). And I will be moving right along with the paper doll cast… It was pointed out that they are all girls so far, save Ryan.
Dada… how very soap opera of you… Sister Trace was killed in a boating accident while visiting her long lost half brother from Kansas.
Pete… Grace… complex and dimensional… with hints of oak and blackberry.
Silly Bridgett,
Grace has notes of cyanide and snark, with a full-bodied shiver of formaldehyde…
Midge has the hints of oak and blackberry…
judy… Ah, Haaaaa Haaaa! Yes… you are exactly right!
You can’t get Grace-free that easy.
Randie’s thought bubble hit the nail on the head, and I’ve got an awesome example to share:
I’ve been searching high and low for a great new writing gig for months since my previous big client’s business decided to go in a “different direction,” but I gave it to Him to help me out and I really didn’t worry about it. I applied to all kinds of work like a madman every day and then BAM! I land a fantastic writing job that is absolutely perfect for me late last week. It’s like Zinger Stuff meets Animal Planet, so that’s right up my alley!
Just don’t forget to thank Him, Randie! Your Father’s always looking out for ya! 😉
Oh, and I wouldn’t worry about Grace- I heard that she’s “happy” working at the Snot Topic down the street.
What with Pfaffmart (no relation to Walmart) likely to stock inks and Grace disposed to become a tattoo artist; Randie, Mouse and Grace are likely to see much of each other.
Sir Gulls… Oh, Her Ugliness is such a fun character… isn’t she.
Mr. Z… Ha Ha… Snot Topic…
… and gratefulness is essential, isn’t it? I have so much to be grateful for… so many blessings. You, too also-as-well. Congrats on your perfect writing job. Smiles!
I’m delighted that Carol is no longer around. Grace…not so much.
And just where has that Twinkie got himself to, hmmmm? Home with a gnome?
Haha Stick I love your idea!
Eprinc…
Thanks for that, nice to be appreciated.
EofO…. Twinkie off with a gnome? Ha… he’s probably trying to knock it off a shelf or something.
As far as Carol goes… she was kind of poofy eh?
Eprinc… yes, they are nice ideas… and perhaps they will wind up in an upcoming Sunday.
stick… yes, credit where credit is due. Cheers!
Yes! Great news for Randie!
