Fumes
Originally I had turpentine instead of brush cleaner… but realized after sneak peek readers questioned the affects of said turp that Randie would probably be on the floor hacking with a horrendous headache. So I went with brush cleaner… and some brush cleaners have a most intoxicating and pleasant smell.
AND DON’T NONE OF YOU GO OUT AND START SNIFFING BRUSH CLEANER! OKAY?
::wobbles::
Too late … oooooooo swirly ….
hehehehe
And is Randie nekkers except for that apron? o.O Well, it’s a good thing she just THOUGHT it rather than doing it, or poor Mouse would be out cold with one serious nosebleed. And not from the fumes, either.
And am I not the only one surprised Grace is completely unaffected by the fumes, other than being repulsed by the smell? Now taking bets on whether it is due to previous heavy use of it, or just due to the same veins full of vinegar that give her such a sunny attitude, heh.
At work, we have a variety of cleaners, lubricants, solvents, and adhesives on hand. Each one has to have a MSDS(Material Safety Data Sheet). This tells you what is in the product and what effects those ingredients have on Health, Flammability, and if they React with water. That last one tells you what to use if a spill or fire breaks out.
Whew! Glad you put that disclaimer about NOT sniffing brush cleaner.
At first glance, looks like a throwback to 60’s era LSD/poison mushroom-fueled free-lov’in psychadelia. Too bad Grace was out of the frame. She’d likely have appeared as a vulture…also in an apron…ha.
Fantastic imagery. Mebee a good thing that this one does not make a paper appearance…too many young twistable minds may absorb it, viewers of this site notwithstanding. At least here there is a large warning below…if you read it. Cigarette and wiskey anyone?
Okay, ment to write whiskey.
This strip so makes me think of White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane).
Coloring in Photoshop may be easier, cleaner, and cheaper, but you will never get those same wonderful fumes you get from traditional art supplies!
that first panel reminds me of Susie Creamcheese (what’s got into you) by teddy and his patches (same year as white rabbit, 1967, but the imagery is much more….interesting)
Anyone else remember when Dilbert briefly ran as an animated series (man, I wish that had lasted longer than it did … Jerry Seinfeld as Compu-U-Comp in that one episode was brilliant!), and they discovered that civilization of little people living in the office walls? And how they were all horribly addicted to sniffing whiteboard markers?
For some reason, looking at this strip again, I got that image in my head, of one of those quasi-Lilliputians, the end of their nose all stained from huffing a marker … yep, stream of consciousness, it’s a dangerous thing sometimes.
Why does ” carbona not glue” by the Ramones come to mind?
The opening panel made me think of Spiegelman’s “Maus” with that caricature.
