Fried Worms
I’m listening to The Grapes of Wrath on cd right now. I can’t imagine a ten year old reading this…. except for Ryan.
Happy Birthday, John Steinbeck. A great voice speaking great truths…

Well, let’s see, how old is a 7th grader? 12? I distinctly remember reading and doing a report on Ben Hur in early 7th grade. I read similar books before that, but that’s the only book I remember how old I was very clearly, due to my teacher’s response at seeing the book I chose. The Grapes of Wrath, however, wasn’t found until halfway through High School sometime. Us lonely kids do seem to get farther ahead in book reading skills!
Hey, I’m only 2 (& 1/2) years behind now! Yay!
I tended not to read, in high school, unless it was required. My Frosh English instructor required some serious reading for her class…and I coped… but, It was my introduction to Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, Shakespeare, just to name a few. Steinbeck’s Of Mice & Men was required reading in my Senior year… but I have found his works most enjoyable for their social commentary, so many years after high school.
Can’t say I ever read Ben Hur. I was lonely, too, but threw my energy at drawing.
