Free Comic Book Day
Happy Free Comic Book Day. Most comic book stores are zoos today. If you aren’t into crowds… this may not be a day to go to the comic book store.

In so many ways, free things aren’t free….so many connections, obligations, wishes and such permeate this cartoon. Thanks for all the layers!
I can’t remember the last time I was in a comic books store. (As opposed to bookstores, which I go in all the time.) Must’ve been my last trip up north, which was…well, some years ago now.
Judy… Free is rarely free. Glad you enjoy the layers.
RN… I was recently in San Diego… and I discovered a new comic book store in Liberty Station (Point Loma). Comickaze… nice place, good selection, friendly owner… and I would be there often if I lived nearby. The owner even gave me a shout out on his Facebook page having introduced myself.
Aw, Mouse. Not sure if I should be very impressed, or pat him on the head pityingly. Still, a good deed is it’s own reward! I’d enjoy free comic day if I lived within a hundred miles of a comic store, I’m sure. Not for the free comics, but because it would give me an excuse to get out of the house! The weather around here has been miserable!
Trev… Oh dear… And what sort of weather is miserable at present? And yes, Mouse did a good thing…. even if it was from the “Oh, I’m so in love with this guy’s wife” place.
FCBD is the best; I had probably my best one ever this year, drawing sketchcards and selling books at Arsenal Comics & Games (sorry to brag, but it’s such a great occasion!).
I have to leave the freebies to the potential customers, with one exception: I always grab the new free issue of the Tick. Spoon!
Dada… Cool! I am glad to hear you had a great Free Comic Book Day… a few years ago, I tried to go to my local comics shop here in Salinas… I stood in line for about a half an hour… it didn’t move AT ALL the entire time. I left with nothing. That’s my sad FCBD story. Next year’s will be totally different.
