Failure
Post cards are just the total best. You get a little souvie from whence it came, postage, and fun message of “woo hoo, guess where I am?”

Postcards can also be mailed with cheaper stamps (postage) than can letters.
Reminds me of the saying, “Its easier to apologize after, than ask permission before.”
I still hold with my cautionary tale of yesterday, though.
E-cards are cheaper yet. Emily, Ryan, his parents and even Randie should have email through a local library. If the Post Office had a monthly subscription fee that would let you send as many letters as you wanted, would they get more of your business?
Do you know the way to San Jose(Salinas)? I’m going there to find some peace of mind in San Jose(Salinas). Etc…
Joe, even though it’s not as good as doing so in person, breaking bad or troublesome news by mail is, I believe, still seen by many as being better than using the electronic version.
Although, given how these things are blown up in the media, text messaging is even worse… “He dumped her via text message!” is the usual comment affecting scandal and outrage.
Astragali,
Any kind of impersonal bad news can leave the recipient with bad feelings. ’tis better to be told in person, than to be told in the tabloids. Although, it might be better to be told by a “Page Three Gal”. Ya?
Being told bad news by a Page Three girl? I… er… there was bad news?
Brig: I collected scenic postcards for a good long while. I really should scan them all, though there are quite a few, and throw them up on my Flickr stream, along with map locations 🙂
Page 3 girl! She IS bad news! I mean really… you don’t want to be associated with a P3G.
Personal bad news is always better than a letter. Letters are the easy way out. Phone calls are alright if you don’t live nearby. Postcards would be… well… not really a good choice, despite Ryan’s enthusiasm.
Joe… bring warm clothes. We’re having some Canadian weather slide down from the north. It’s suggesting possible snow at sea level this week. Although, thinks can change from week to week.
Brig… I’ll need warm clothes just to leave the state! It’s 27F here.
You know what a “Page 3 Girl” is? Shame on you. I thought you were a nice girl. ;^)
I’m keeping an eye out for any news reports of Amtrak having problems getting trains through. Nothing yet. Fingers crossed?
I had parents that were sort of like that. As a kid in grade school, I was expected to bring home nothing but A’s. I’d show a card with 9 A’s and a B+ on it and my dad would say, “That’s pretty good, but what about this B+? You can do better than that.”
I expect a lot from my kids as well, but I don’t want to get into the terrible habit of expecting A’s as being the norm. That means that my boys can’t do anything to exceed expectations. Better to let them BE kids and encourage them to enjoy themselves WHILE they’re learning and growing up.
Oh… sorry I was away for a bit. Bad head cold knocked me out for the long weekend.
“Having a Wonderful Time…Wish You Were Dead”.
Okay, maybe that’s a bit harsh, but Dad had it coming!
