I’ll never knock giving people a chance…… I’ve been given many in my life and I’m very thankful for all of them. I also admire the guy’s desire to step up from busking, and buskers are well used to working hard. However bartending is hard, HARD work that demands a lot of patience, skill, and time management. Just because I’m a complete meanie, I’m predicting this guy will crumble like a burnt eggshell.

Pete,
Given your choir background, I’m surprised you were unfamiliar with the term “busking”. I would have expected the subject to come up occasionally.
McDuff… yes, I find the more entertaining bartenders more fun and they do get bigger tips. I mean, if you think about it… one could simply go to BevMo! and grab a bottle of whatever and drink at home for way cheaper than going to a bar where the price of alcohol is a bit inflated. The company is key.
Legacy… agreed. Drake may keep an instrument behind the bar!
Lady Jenn… I’m all for giving chances. I have a history of having been given good advice, and failing to take it. I read recently that each new day is like being given a new chance. I like that. I screwed up yesterday, but today I’m gonna RockIT!
Pete… “give him his shot” … make mine a caramel vodka! or vanilla, I like vanilla. Let’s hope Drake does well, lest the personal training would have been a waste of time.
Beetles… I didn’t hear of the term until I visited London a second time. In the Tube stations, there are signs about “Busking” and I had to ask. In my California circles, it’s just not referred to as busking. I guess we lump it in with panhandling…. which isn’t really a nice way to look at it.
I had an officemate from Long Guyland, (mumblety-mumble) years ago. That was shortly before I had one who’s father changed the earl in his car. (I think he was a plumber, which means he fixed terlets for a living?). Those easterners sure talk funny. I’m glad I don’t have an accent.
Well, interacting with people is an important part of tending bar. He might have potential…
Eh, maybe he can make it work. Showmanship + Bartending can be pretty impressive, if you’re any good.

*heh* I had to look up what “busking” was. Learn something new every day.
Yah… give him his shot, but keep the leash short. He’s gone from being his own boss to being an employee. Some people cannot make that change.

I first heard the term “busking” about a year ago and had to look it up. And I should know; the French Quarter is full of them!

Had forgotten how fun flairing was to watch.
Fun fact: Long Island ice tea is pronounced with a hard g: “Long Guyland Ice Tea”.
Yat… I bet you have TONS of Jazzy buskers afoot! I would like that.
Legacy! Wow! Puts Tom Cruise in the movie, Cocktail, to shame. Serious.
uwg… what’s a “guyland?” hee hee. Like Herland?
