was in the Shakespeare and co. bookstore in Berkeley once. interesting store…
No, It’s in Paris…
Shakespeare & Co is not trademarked. There are a lot of them scattered all over the world. Including in Berkeley. Heck there are actually TWO famous bookstores by that name in Paris. BOTH of them started by Americans…and they are English bookstores. They are probably one of the least French things in the city.
Bonjour from Nantes, France! We got in last night… It has been a long journey! And it is quite warm here…
Firedome & squid guy… Randie is referring to the one in Paris… She & I haven’t been to the one in Berkeley.
Val… It is very non-French… Tres anglais!
brig,
I hate having to ask you for this, but could you copy out the text from the third panel. The latest piece of offal from microsoft is hidding part of it.
Ah the Eiffel Tower – a demonstration to the world of what the steel and iron frames were capable of – most of the metal used is purely decorative, and even so the weight of the air contained within its lowest level out masses the tower itself.
Not a pretty building, but fully demonstrating the principals that it was designed on.
Eiffel also designed the framework of the Statue of Liberty, again demonstrating the engineering that would eventually leas to the skyscraper….
The Auld Grump, my father was an engineer, and could go on for hours about Eiffel….
Nice strip, Brig!
Oh, my friend Beth is doing some temp work in France right now. She’s filing books and books and books for some rich guy’s private library. (Sorry, Ryan, but Beth is married.)
If you see her, say hi from me, okay? 😉
Says Randie: and this is cool…in 1949 the Sennilier art store created the first oil pastel because Picasso wanted something he could use on any surface. Now that’s service! Can you just see us in Paris, Harold? …cause I sure can!
Grump… That Eiffel was a genius!
Thanks; it shows up on Monday’s strip also, but that placement lets me read around it. So far I’ve found it on your site (but not on other WordPress sites I’ve checked) Wiki and YouTube. M$ has set a new high in malware, there’s no close point, click, right-click and click-and-drag all bring up a Bing search page.
