Day After
Happy Day After! I hope you are enjoying your new gifts and toys.
I bet there are a few Christmas songs you are glad you won’t be hearing any longer!

oh, yeah…especially “there’s fleas on my dog”…er, “Feliz Navidad”
When I was driving around Santa Cruz and Monterey counties on Monday, I had the radio on KPIG. It did not disappoint. I heard
Mary Lou’s Christmas List:

Cheech & Chong’s Santa and the Magic Dust

Santa Lost a Ho:

When you have the PIG on the radio there’s no need to listen to horrible Christmas music. 🙂
I try to continue celebrating Christmas until New Years.
The “glad” is tempered by the trealization I’ll be hearing them again in less than a year.
Chug,
Traditionally the season lasted until Jan 8 (12th night).
Firedome… I didn’t hear that song ONCE this holiday season! Thank goodness!
JC… I think that the “Mary Lou’s Christmas” song is sweet! That’s the first I’ve heard of it…
CHug… good on ya! We keep Christmas up until New Years… Heck, the Wise Men didn’t make it to see the Holy Trio until Jesus was TWO-ish. So well, I can keep the Christmas spirit for more than one day… or even the holiday season.
I’ve developed a selective affliction of hearing in defense against retail outlet Christmas “music” tape loops; as soon as I hear enough of any over-played Christmas tune to recognize it, I grimace and tune it out of my head, generally by humming something from TSO or Manheim Steamroller, instead.
If the situation is dire enough, I’ll even hum Apocalyptica. ;-P
We’re only on the second day of Christmas.
Time to start packing away the old year and preparing for the New. My in-laws always had a tradition of leaving the Nativity set up till after Jan. 6, even though everything else was packed away. I rather like that, even though I don’t own a decent Nativity set. Happy rest of Christmas season, Brig! So sorry I missed the fruitcake…I’ll try not to be bitter. 😉
In Canada (and the rest of the Commonwealth) we call it Boxing Day, and is noted for sales.
The local radio station that has been playing Christmas music 24/7 since Halloween finally switches back to its regular format.
brig & firedome,
I only heard it as an ad, in a rewritten form, for a national chain. I think that may mean its been worn out.
bitflip… you are one of the fortunate ones who can tune out. This is a skill. When I worked retail, I did NOT possess this skill… nor do I possess it now.
Mary… what did YOU get on the second day of Christmas? We really ought to do 1-12. It’d be less of a letdown.
EofO… I like that idea, too. I haven’t put up my Nativity for a few years… cats, you see. It’s a Boyd’s Bears set….. really adorable. If Jesus were a cuddly little teddy bear, he’d be all cuddly.
..on the fruitcake… I wrote these back in November… how could I have knowN?
S’toon (hello to you in Canadia… land of my peoples…) Boxing Day… no boxing occurs?
Yat….. Wow… how often did you tune in?
Beetles… Yes, it seems as if there are trends in Christmas music. This year seemed to be “The Carol of the Bells”… agree, anyone?
Just caught this now … and had to laugh, as my grandmother used to have a bit of a crush on “Engie.” 😀
