Okay… so as I indicated on a blog a while back… I am obsessed with Scott Pilgrim. If you have not read it… I may suggest to you, that if you were to read it, you’d find the humor in the coming strips more fun. But if you cannot read it, or don’t wish to, seeing the movie will do. I highly recommend the movie, BTW. It made my top 10.
Hey, Brig, admintrivia: I just took some days away from my computer and so I discovered that http://squidrowcomics.com/?p=4535, which is what I get if I click the Previous button five times, is a distinctly different page from http://squidrowcomics.com/?m=20130612, which is what I get if I click June 12 on the archive calendar. In case your list of thankless clerical tasks to do was getting too short …
J.R.R. Tolkien used to be the standard for fantasy. Now, it’s J.K. Rowling’s. For Vampires, it was Bram Stoker, now it’s twinkles the sparkling vampire. Unfortunately, life(and the undead goes) on. Rebirths, re-imaginings, reboots are all about putting our own stamps on the stories we grew up with, but wished for something more.
The movie was pretty good, I admit.
The core of all Tolkein mythology is based on the Norse collection, Prose Edda, written in the 13th century and later added on to. It is a written (and Christianized) version of the Norse myths. From it we get much of western civilization’s myths. (And the majority of the names of our weekdays.) The Ljósálfar, for example, are the direct basis for both our elves and our fairies.
Aaahhh… the benefits of doing research for novels. (And having a wife with a Masters in English Literature and a deep interest in Nordic mythology.)
Suzii… yes that is the thing about the calendar… it makes you click more… if you were to go to the tag cloud, it gives you the same thing… I think it’s a WordPress archiving thing… if anybody using WordPress with ComicPress knows a different way… I’m all eyes.
For giggles… do any of you Squiddies use the Tag Cloud on this site?
Joe… retellings…. morphing and reboots, oh my. I guess this is what happens when people want something different in this age of over-stimulation.
Pete… Thor is still a bit of a mystery to me. We watched the Avengers the other night… Immortals have few weaknesses… where’s the fun in that?
So what if Randie has never read Scott Pilgrim? I’ve never seen Forrest Gump.
Yat… oh really? Life is like that I guess… like a box of…
