Cooking With
I dedicate this cartoon to Judy… who not only can cook, but who can make the biggest of messes in the kitchen (and sometimes burns whatever’s in the pot).

Ryan is such an understanding friend…. hopefully Judy has a friend like that too….
At least Randie tried. Actually this was my wife in the kitchen, but not anymore. She’s an amazing cook now.
PS – I love the smoking pot panel. Brilliant!
I have lived without a kitchen for 20 years and I would like one, but have no idea what I would do with it.
Scott… Yah, Ryan is a real gem… And Judy has a pretty good pal in the kitchen – a sous chef at times, disaster clean-up at other times.
Joseph… Ya gotta start somewhere, yah? Does wifey have a signature dish? And thanks fer the compliment…. It wasn’t a stretch to imagine ( or rather, reimagine).
Fog…. Hee hee… So you is like Randie… She hasn’t had a kitchen either… She didn’t know what to do with it either… Apparently.
Most of the people I’ve met who ‘can’t cook’ either aren’t good at paying attention, or aren’t good at following directions (if the recipe says ‘medium heat, stirring constantly’, THAT’S WHAT IT MEANS). There are, of course, those few whom the gods of cooking simply hate.
It’s not often the first panel of a comic makes me laugh [Randie: I will cook…]
Anybody see the movie Reds? The scene where Jack Reed (Warren Beatty) cooks dinner for Louise Bryant (Diane Keaton)…
The newbie mistake: Cooking something you haven’t cooked before, for a guest. Chef Murphy looks upon thee with malicious glee, O Mortal!
Now… Me? I can microwave instant oatmeal, if I get the amount of water right.
Friends know these kind of things.
I can cook if I understand the directions, some of the stuff out there I feel like you need an engineering degree or something to understand what they are talking about.
Poor Randie, but bravo on getting pizza!
I don’t have guests over for dinner. I don’t trust anyone to eat what I’ve cooked.
Always choose your recipe to match your ingredients.
baking soda and baking powder…blech. And uh yeah I’ve done that. ^^;
Practice, Randie… practice. 🙂
The Auld Grump
Chug… I think Randie is one of those “puny non-cooking mortals.” poor thing.
A. Rat, once you have mastered the microwave instant oatmeal, you can move up to quick cooking oats… the five minutes on the stove kind. That is, if you feel up to it.
Yat: I’m glad the toon amused you. It’s a lot of AIL, here.
Dada/Heather: Yes, Pizza is the answer to many things… especially “Shall I cook us dinner?”
uwg… really… but you will eat it… what’s your uwg specialty?
Mary… or manipulate them to match what you got. The joy of discovery…. (of pizza).
joy88.. it’s not pretty, is it? Randie, I’m sure has the pizza place number at eye level in her new kitchen.
Grump… yes, the more mistakes you make… the less…. you wanna eat your own food. Uwg understands this.
