Come Back
There’s nothing more annoying than a cheerful person… when you’ve only had a couple hours of sleep. Well, maybe a cheerful person who is in love!

Sometimes, its really better don’t go to sleep than go for few hours; at least for one night at a time.
Randie, don’t go with him… even if he pays for the meal… You’ll only end up feeling much worse after Ryan’s finished rhapsodising over his bookish belle…
I’ve been blessed/cursed with being one of those insufferably cheerful morning people. I don’t even need coffee! (Though I always drink it. I’m Lutheran, you know.) I love getting up at 5:00am, bright and happy, heading into work and having my morning coffee while at my desk. When my coworkers (eventually) come in, they growl at me and hate my guts. Everyone brightens up as the day goes on, though.
Please don’t hate me…
Pete… I am, after a cup of coffee, most pleasant in the morning. Like you, I actually like getting up at 6am and getting the ball rolling. I get stuff done in the morning hours. The productivity begins to wane just after lunch… and after dinner, I am not really capable of much. So I don’t hate you, Pete.
Alex: I find that a nap really does help because once I’m up, I’m up! Randie, on the other hand, could sleep the day away.
Astragali: you know Ryan is paying for drunch! I suspect that Randie could POSSIBLY tune him out.
Drunch? Or Linner? 😉
Pete: Depends on how much wine is involved… 😉
They have a 5:00 in the morning too? Hoodathunkit?
I’m with Randi on this. Without some obligation to rouse me I am inclined to sleep late.
I wonder what Ryan’s reaction would be if Randi went out with Mouse? Jealousy, indifference, pleasure that she is dating someone? I don’t recall Randi having anything like a date, except with Ryan, in all the strips. I suppose going with Mouse to The Fish Grotto would be rubbing it in. Thinking of all the men characters in the strip Randi knows only Ryan and Mouse seem likely prospects for her to date. There was Tim, but he is committed to someone else at last sight, and never responded positively to Randi’s crush on him.
I usually get up with the neighbor’s dog barking up a storm because everyone has gone to work/school. I’m trying to break him of that habbit without breaking his neck. My computer has a mp3 file of a dog whistle. If he goes on too long, I fire up the computer, open the window a crack and point the speaker out the window. I put on hearing protection and turn it up to max.
This often settles him down after he gets the idea that if he is quiet, so is the whistle.
Around here, it’s called “Supper”.
“Food” for Thought
We break our fast in the morning.
We munch on our lunch at Noon.
We dine or sup in the evening.
But our stomachs still growl at the Moon.
We eat in an eatery, we have coffee in a cafe.
We graze at a salad bar and browse the buffet.
We all raise a glass and call it a toast.
We are well fed and give praise to our host.
We are well served and if you have a care,
when the bill arrives, leave a tip there.
