Choice Chalk
Choice is something you choose to have. You can choose to let situations get the better of you, or you can choose to be happy despite circumstances. It’s a hard lesson I’ve learned. Attitudes can always be adjusted.

Heh, reminds me of a Calvin & Hobbes strip from back in the day. Susie is coloring with sidewalk chalk and offers some to Calvin. Calvin, excited, says “Wow, I’ve never been a vandal before!” Susie replies “It’s not vandalism, it washes right off.” Calvin leaves disappointed, tossing the chalk over his shoulder.
Good times, good times…..
You choose to choose..which means you can choose NOT to choose…”I choose to give up any control over my life”….equals “I cannot be held responsible for all the trouble I cause.” (Insert Interesting philosophical discussion here).

Until I read your comment, Jude, I had taken a rather more simplistic view of Randie’s statement: a choice is simply that, regardless of where you allow it to take you.
Now, however, my brain hurts. 😛
xD This happened when we were told to do some inspirational words and designs on the sidewalk. The police came and threatened to fine us, the designs were done in flour for crying out loud! With all the other problems in that road crime, drugs, prostitution etc you’d think they’d have better things to do then to bother art students who’d already been given permission from them anyway.
You can choose to give up choice in some things, which will in turn open up many other choices. When we chose to have children, we gave up a lot of other choices. However, all the choices (and joys) of parenthood opened to us.
Our son will be giving up his right to choose many things soon when he enters the US Coast Guard. But by surrendering his ability to choose much of what he does and where he goes for the next eight years, he in turn gives choices to many, many other people who would have otherwise lost or been denied that.
The act of choosing is great privilege. But the act of choosing CORRECTLY is great wisdom.
Well said, Pete.
I remember in high school having a class conversation on choice. The instructor spelled it out clearly… you are here not because you have to be here, but because you choose to be here… which stirred up the pot a bit… arguments ensued… “no, we HAVE To be here because our parents say so…” No. You choose to follow your parents wishes, etc. etc.
Judy is correct. Not CHOOSING is a choice, too. Or putting off choosing (procrastination)… to the point of not choosing …. also a choice. Sigh- I suffer from this habit.
Leorica: Dang! Poopy deal you got there!
Astragali: coffee to ease the pain… then contemplation.
UWG: I love that C&H!
“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me” — Philippians 4:11-13
